San Miguel to Santander Camino del norte - SPAIN

18 June 2025

(Deduct 5km for the ferry ride)
We send our love and encouragement to Kellie for having the courage to walk solo after losing her life companion - a gentle reminder that we all need to live life to the full

What a day to finish off our Camino del Norte! We were spoilt with great weather, quiet rural countryside and breathtaking coastal scenery. Finished off with pampering our feet, barefoot walking the last few kilometres before having a refreshing ocean swim and then completing our Camino with a final ferry crossing from Somo to Santander.

Well that’s a wrap! Whilst we are a little sad that it has now come to an end just as the bodies were finding the rhythm of walking big kilometres, we acknowledge that we’ve been blessed to have shared and enjoyed this experience with our long time amigos. We’ve had some good laughs over dinners (with a little help from a glass of Sangria or Vino Tinto). We’ve shared good accommodations and the occasional Chathole (as opposed to a Chateau). Sore feet and tired bodies. And now we’ll come home with fond memories and of course embellished stories!

We have a rest day tomorrow here in Santander before we head off to Madrid, then onto Barcelona before flying home.

The Spanish love cycling and the motorists are very respectful - not like back home!
