NOTRE DAME MONOGRAM CLUB 2025 Year in Review

MONOGRAM CLUB MEMBERSHIP

An individual who earns a Monogram is a member of the Monogram Club for life. There are nearly 10,000 living Monogram Club members hailing from all 50 states and over 30 countries and territories. The Monogram Club strives to deliver on the promise that joining the Notre Dame family is more than a four-year decision. This is accomplished through member engagement, which focuses on fellowship and professional development. Members can assist the Monogram Club’s mission, while greatly impacting Notre Dame Athletics, by supporting the Rockne Athletics Fund. Monogram Club member gifts to the Rockne Athletics Fund count as their annual Monogram Club contribution (formerly known as dues). In 2025, nearly 4,000 Monogram Club members made a gift to the Rockne Athletics Fund. By contributing to the Rockne Athletics Fund, Monogram Club members make a lasting impact on the current, former and future generations of Notre Dame Athletics. HONORS & AWARDS

An important mission of the Monogram Club is to honor individuals from the Notre Dame family who are performing outstanding work in their local community and throughout the world. The Monogram Club accomplishes this by bestowing its hallmark awards – the Edward "Moose" Krause Distinguished Service Award, the Jesse Harper Award and the Frazier Thompson Award – upon deserving members.

Edward "Moose" Krause Distinguished Service Award

The Edward “Moose” Krause Distinguished Service Award is the Monogram Club’s highest honor. It is bestowed upon Monogram Club members who have notable achievements in the following areas: • Exemplary performance in local, state or national government • Outstanding dedication to the spirit and ideals of Notre Dame • Demonstrated responsibility to and concern for their respective communities • Extraordinary commitment and involvement with youth

Aaron Taylor ‘94 (football) was presented with the Edward "Moose" Krause Distinguished Service Award during the 2025 Blue-Gold Game. He is pictured with his wife, Lina, along with Monogram Club Executive Director Matt Weldy (honorary) and Monogram Club Director Emeritus Don Casey '82, '83 (swimming & diving).

Aaron Taylor ‘94 (football) was the 2025 recipient of the Monogram Club’s Edward “Moose” Krause Distinguished Service Award. Taylor, an All-America offensive lineman at Notre Dame and Super Bowl champion with the Green Bay Packers, has a long history of positively impacting others. He launched “Mind Flex with Aaron Taylor”, a solutions-oriented micro-podcast designed to help student-athletes and young adults build resilience and confidence—both on and off the field. He is also the founder of Elite Mentals, which promotes open conversations around mental health in the Black and Brown community. Earlier in his career, he established the Aaron Taylor IMPACT Fund, a donor-advised endowment aimed at bridging the gap between those who have and those who need. In addition, Taylor serves as a mentor to student-athletes at every level—high school, college, professional and post-professional—through his work with the AthLife Foundation. He also partners with RADical Hope, an organization dedicated to improving the lives and futures of young adults by strengthening connections and building resilience. Taylor’s commitment to service has taken him across the globe. In 2005, he funded a post-tsunami recovery project in Sri Lanka that built a community center and 40 temporary homes in the village of Kosgoda. He has also volunteered with Teaching and Projects Abroad (TAPA), leading English instruction and service projects for high school students in South America. MORE

The Jesse Harper Award recognizes Monogram Club members who have demonstrated a committed involvement with the Notre Dame Athletics Department and University. The Monogram Club presented former Notre Dame softball head coach, and honorary Monogram Club member, Deanna Gumpf with the Jesse Harper Award in early April. The surprise presentation took place during an event celebrating Gumpf’s record-setting career at Notre Dame. Several of Gumpf’s former players, along with her family, friends and members of the Notre Dame community were in attendance. Gumpf is the first female recipient of the Jesse Harper Award and the seventh overall. She spent 23 seasons leading the Fighting Irish softball program and compiled 882 victories, which are the most for any head coach in the history of Notre Dame Athletics. MORE

Frazier Thompson Award

The Frazier Thompson Award recognizes outstanding contributions to inclusion and belonging by Monogram Club members and others in the Notre Dame community. The award is named in honor of Frazier Thompson ’47 (track & field), Notre Dame’s first Black Monogram winner.

Justin Morrow '10 (men's soccer) was recognized for receiving the Frazier Thompson Award during the Notre Dame-USC football game in October. Morrow is pictured with his parents, Noreen and Leroy, and Monogram Club Director Emeritus Don Casey '82, '83 (swimming & diving).

Justin Morrow '10 (men's soccer) became the latest recipient of the Frazier Thompson Award when he was bestowed the honor in the fall during Men's Soccer Legacy Weekend. In 2020, Morrow co-founded Major League Soccer’s player-led Black Players for Change Coalition (BPC). BPC consists of over 170 players, coaches and staff members of MLS clubs working to bridge the gap in racial equality. For this work, BPC was honored as the 2020 MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year. Honorary Monograms

The Monogram Club awards honorary Monograms to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the betterment of Notre Dame Athletics and the development of Fighting Irish student-athletes and graduates.

Doug Marsh ‘81 was presented with an honorary Monogram in May during an event celebrating his retirement following a 30-year career at the University. Marsh served as vice president for facilities design and operations and University architect. Among his many accomplishments, Marsh led the 800,000-square-foot Campus Crossroads project, the largest construction project ever undertaken by the University. University of Notre Dame President Rev. Robert Dowd, C.S.C. ‘87, and Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Marcus Freeman were part of the presentation.
The Monogram Club bestowed an honorary Monogram upon longtime Notre Dame hockey associate head coach Paul Pooley in June. Pooley spent 20 seasons with the Fighting Irish, helping the program reach the Frozen Four four times and win eight conference championships. Catalino Family Head Hockey Coach Brock Sheahan '08 (hockey) presented Pooley with his jacket.

CHEER HER NAME Celebration Weekend

Over 300 female Monogram Club members returned to campus in September for the CHEER HER NAME Celebration Weekend to commemorate 50 years of women’s varsity athletics at Notre Dame. Events were held in conjunction with the football team's game against Purdue.

The weekend's festivities got underway Friday evening with a welcome reception inside the Joyce Center.
Notre Dame Volleyball Head Coach Salima Rockwell addressed the attendees at the welcome reception prior to her team's showdown against Michigan.
A special CHEER HER NAME edition of Pete's Pregame included a panel discussion featuring Haley DeMaria '95 (swimming & diving), Niele Ivey '00 (women's basketball) and Kate Markgraf '98 (women's soccer).
The Monogram Club Pregame Tailgate was the place to be for the CHEER HER NAME honorees and guests prior to the Notre Dame-Purdue game.
Notre Dame legend Ruth Riley Hunter '01, '16 (women’s basketball) presented the flag for the National Anthem before the Fighting Irish faced the Boilermakers.
An in-game recognition featured current student-athletes and head coaches from Notre Dame’s women’s sports teams.

The Monogram Club hosted over 5,000 members and guests during 2025 home football weekend events, which included the Pregame Tailgate at the Jordan Hall of Science.
The Schivarelli Football Players' Lounge Reception at Notre Dame Stadium was held on Friday evening for football and senior football manager alumni.
All Monogram Club members were invited to the Club's Annual Reception the Friday of Boise State weekend. The marquee event was held at the north tunnel concourse of Notre Dame Stadium.
The Monogram Club welcomed members to its postgame Mass inside the Joyce Center after every home game. Football team chaplain Fr. Nate Wills, C.S.C., Ph.D., presided over each Mass, which featured behind-the-scenes observations from his game day with the team.
Monogram Club President Jeff Faine '03 (football) and Vice President Linda Wilson '09 (softball) presented the flag for the National Anthem prior to the Notre Dame-Boise State game.
Former Fighting Irish quarterback Terry Hanratty '69, who helped Notre Dame to the 1966 national championship, was honored during USC weekend for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

REUNION WEEKEND GOLF OUTING

The Monogram Club hosted its Reunion Weekend Golf Outing at the Warren Golf Course in late May. Thirteen foursomes, which featured Monogram winners from the past seven decades, took to the links for the annual event.

The winning foursome included Keagan Boll, Emmie Boll ’17 (cheer), Christo Schultz and Bob Schultz.

4 FOR FOREVER

The Monogram Club partnered with several Fighting Irish teams to host reunions, Legacy Weekends, networking events and other engagement opportunities for members. Legacy Weekend is a rebranding, and enhancement, of team reunion efforts hosted by the Monogram Club and Notre Dame’s Student-Athlete Services office. The mission is to deliver on the 4 for Forever promise by creating a connection at each stage of the Notre Dame student-athlete life cycle by providing a sense of belonging, connection, purpose and prosperity.

Over 70 cross country/track & field alumni, spanning seven decades of the program, attended the team's Legacy Weekend in February. The event was held in conjunction with the Alex Wilson Invitational. Festivities included a welcome reception at the Harris Track & Field Stadium and a dinner inside Foley’s in O’Neill Hall at Notre Dame Stadium. The dinner featured an opportunity for current team members to engage and network with the alumni.
The Notre Dame women’s basketball team hosted its alumni weekend in early March. The nearly 40 alumni in attendance represented the five decades of the varsity program. A reception was held at the Morris Inn the evening before Notre Dame’s regular-season finale against Louisville. The group was recognized on the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center court during halftime of the win over the Cardinals.
Several former Notre Dame hockey standouts were on campus in late August for the program’s pro camp. The annual event allowed the Fighting Irish alums, who currently play professionally, to practice inside the Compton Family Ice Arena, compete against the current team and enjoy camaraderie before they reported to their respective training camps. The week also included a reception hosted by the Monogram Club for the alumni and the hockey coaching staff.
Men's Soccer Legacy Weekend featured over 50 program alumni returning to campus in October. The alumni and their guests attended the Schivarelli Football Players’ Lounge Reception at Notre Dame Stadium on Friday evening before watching the men’s soccer team take on NC State at Alumni Stadium. On Saturday, the alums were invited to the men’s soccer team's practice and later attended the Monogram Club Pregame Tailgate prior to the Notre Dame-USC football game. The weekend’s events concluded on Sunday with a networking brunch that provided a great opportunity for current team members to engage with the alumni to discuss professional and career development advice.
During the women's tennis team's trip to New York City in late January, Monogram Club director Martin Vergara ‘06 (baseball) hosted the student-athletes, and other Monogram Club members, for a networking event at Morgan Stanley. The group enjoyed dinner, a panel discussion and breakout conversations among the alumni and the team.
The Monogram Club, the Student-Athlete Services office and the Meruelo Family Center for Career Development hosted networking lunches during the Monogram Club’s spring and fall board of directors meetings. Current student-athletes were able to connect with board members to discuss a range of topics, including life as a student-athlete, along with career and professional development advice.

Monogram Club members with children attending the University of Notre Dame continued to receive assistance from the Brennan-Boland-Riehle Scholarship Fund (BBRSF).
