Trefniadau dydd Gwyl Dewi / St David's day arrangements

Ar gyfer dydd Gŵyl Dewi eleni rydym yn gwahodd rhieni a gofalwyr i wylio disgyblion o’r Meithrin i flwyddyn 2 i neuadd yr ysgol i weld bob blwyddyn yn perfformio eitem. Fe fydd y CRhA yn gwerthu te, coffi a chacennau i godi arian i’r ysgol. Disgyblion i wisgo gwisg Gymreig draddodiadol neu rywbeth coch. Yn y prynhawn fe fydd disgyblion o flynyddoedd 3 i 6 yn cymryd rhan mewn Eisteddfod ddwl yn neuadd yr ysgol. Bydd yr Eisteddfod ddim ond ar gyfer disgyblion yr ysgol i fynychu (Dim rhieni).

For St David's Day this year we are inviting parents and carers of pupils from the Nursery to year 2 classes to the school hall to see each year group perform an item. The PTA will be selling tea, coffee, and cakes to raise money for the school. Pupils are welcome to wear traditional Welsh costumes or something red. In the afternoon pupils from years 3 to 6 will take part in a fun Eisteddfod in the school hall. The Eisteddfod will only be for school pupils to attend (No parents).

PYDd v PYDdC

Ydych chi'n gwybod y gwahaniaeth rhwng Prydau Ysgol am Ddim a Phrydau Ysgol am Ddim Cyffredinol? / Do you know the difference between Free School Meals and Universal Primary Free School Meals?

Er mwyn ceisio helpu rhieni i ddeall ac i sicrhau bod pob disgybl sy’n gymwys ar gyfer 'Prydau Ysgol am Ddim (PYDd)' gyda'i holl fanteision ychwanegol yn elwa, rydym wedi creu ffeithlun i esbonio'r gwahaniaeth.

Prydau Ysgol Am Ddim Cynradd Cyffredinol (PYDdC) - Nod Llywodraeth Cymru yw y bydd pob plentyn mewn ysgol gynradd yng Nghymru yn gymwys i gael Pryd Ysgol am Ddim Cynradd Cyffredinol (PYDdC) erbyn diwedd 2024, waeth beth yw incwm y cartref. Ni fydd ffurflenni i'w llenwi. FFAITH BWYSIG - Nid yw derbyn PYDdC fel hyn yn rhoi'r hawl yn awtomatig i deuluoedd dderbyn budd-daliadau eraill fel grantiau gwisg ysgol. Bydd angen i chi wneud cais PYDd i gael hyn.

PRYDAU YSGOL AM DDIM (PYDd) - Mae gan rai teuluoedd sy'n bodloni meini prawf penodol, er enghraifft y rhai sydd ar incwm is neu sy'n derbyn budd-daliadau penodol, yr hawl i dderbyn Pryd Ysgol am Ddim (PYDd). Ar gais llwyddiannus am PYDd mae teuluoedd yn gymwys i gael budd-daliadau eraill i dalu am gost hanfodion ysgol fel grantiau gwisg ysgol.

Er bod ysgolion wedi bod yn cynnig PUDdC ers 2022, ac mae grwpiau blwyddyn cymwys yn derbyn prydau ysgol am ddim, dylai teuluoedd sy'n gymwys ar gyfer PYDd barhau i ddefnyddio’r broses ymgeisio PYDd i sicrhau nad ydynt yn colli allan ar fudd-daliadau eraill. Yn ogystal â theuluoedd, mae ysgolion hefyd yn elwa o PYDd. Ar gyfer pob plentyn sy'n gymwys i PYDd, mae ein hysgol hefyd yn derbyn cyllid i gefnogi’r dysgwyr.

To try and help parents understand this and ensure that all eligible pupils for the ‘FSM -Free School Meals’ with all its additional benefits have applied, we have created an infographic to explain the difference. Universal Primary Free School Meals (UPFSM) - It is Welsh government's aim that every child in primary school in Wales will be eligible for a Universal Primary Free School meal by the end of 2024, regardless of household income. There will be no forms to fill in. IMPORTANT FACT - Receiving a UPFSM in this way does not automatically entitle families to receive other benefits such as school uniform grants. You may still need to apply for FSM to get this.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS (FSM) - Some families who meet certain criteria, for example those on lower incomes or in receipt of certain benefits, are entitled to receive a Free School Meal (FSM). On successful application for FSM families are then eligible for other benefits to cover the cost of school essentials such as school uniform grants.

Even though schools have been offering UPFSM since 2022, and eligible year groups are receiving free school meals, families who are eligible for FSM should continue to use the FSM application process to ensure they don't lose out on other benefits. As well as families, schools also benefit from FSM. For every child who applies for and is granted an FSM, our school can also access funding to help for school essentials to benefit learners.

Archebu cinio ysgol dyddiol / ParentPay Daily Meals Bookings

Gall pob teulu gofio bod yn rhaid archebu pryd bwyd eu plentyn ar ParentPay cyn 8yb bob dydd gan ei fod yn helpu staff y gegin i ddarparu bwyd ar eu cyfer. Mae hyn yn cynnwys plant sy'n derbyn Prydau Ysgol am Ddim a'r plant hynny ym mhob dosbarth hyd at Flwyddyn 5 sydd â hawl i UPFSM. Gofynnwch yn y dderbynfa os nad ydych yn gwybod sut i wneud hyn. Diolch am eich cefnogaeth gyda'r mater hwn.

Please can all families remember that they must book their child's meal on ParentPay before 8am each day as it helps the kitchen staff cater accordingly. This includes children who are in receipt of Free School Meals and those children in all classes up to Year 5 who are entitled to UPFSM. Please ask in reception if you don't know how to do this.

Meithrin Cymru ac Iwerddon

Croeso mawr i’r plant Newydd I’r dosbarthiadau meithrin. Mae pawb wedi setlo’n dda. Am hanner tymor byr ond llawn hwyl a sbri. Rydym wedi bod yn brysur iawn yn dysgu am ble mae pengwiniaid yn byw. Fe wnaeth pawb mwynhau cymharu llefydd twym ac oer a threfnu dillad o beth i wisgo ym mha dywydd. Dros yr wythnosau diwethaf rydym wedi bod yn dysgu am wahanol adar yn ein hardal leol. Rydym wedi bod yn dysgu enwau Cymraeg yr adar – gwylan, jac do, robin goch, titw Tomos las. Fe wnaeth y plant jobio creu bwytawyr adar i roi yn y goedwig. Hefyd mae pawb wedi creu binoculars eu hun i edrych allan am yr adar.

A big welcome to the new children to the nursery classes. Everyone has settled in well. What a short but fun half term it has been. We have been very busy learning about where penguins live. Everyone has enjoyed comparing hot and cold places and organizing clothes of what to wear in different weathers. Over the last few weeks, we have been learning about different birds in our local area. We have been learning the Welsh names of the birds - Gwylan, Jac do, Robin goch, Titw Tomos Las. The children have worked really hard on creating bird feeders to put in the forest area. Everyone has created their own binoculars to look out for the birds.

Derbyn Sbaen a'r Eidal

Dros y mis a hanner diwethaf rydym wedi bod wrthi yn mwynhau stori ‘Yr Iâr Fach Goch’. Yn y stori, mae’r iâr yn brysur yn pobi bara. Cawsom ein hysbrydoli gan y stori i drafod am bara amrywiol rydyn ni’n hoffi. O ganlyniad i’n trafodaethau, penderfynom fynd i’r siop i brynu bara amrywiol i flasu. Ein hoff fara oedd bara garlleg! Manteisiom ar sawl gyfle i ddatblygu ein sgiliau llythrennedd a rhifedd megis defnyddio arian yn y siop, pleidleisio am ein hoff fara drwy greu pictogram JIT, a dysgu patrymau brawddeg. Rydym hefyd wedi bod yn brysur yn cymryd rhan mewn arsylwad adar yr RSPB. Dysgom am adar amrywiol megis y robin goch, titw Tomos las, pioden a hefyd cnocell y coed. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at archwilio rhagor o anifeiliaid yn ystod ein hymweliad i Fferm Brynteg ar ôl hanner tymor.

Over the last month and a half, we have been learning the history of ‘’The Little Red Hen’’. During this story, the little red hen is busy making bread. We were inspired by this story to discuss the different breads that we have tasted, and what bread we like to eat. As a result of our discussions, we then decided to visit our local shop to buy some different kinds of bread to taste. Our favourite was garlic bread! We enjoyed many opportunities to develop our literacy and numeracy skills during our exploration of this story. For example, using money to buy our bread in the shop, creating a pictogram of our favourite bread using the JIT software as well as learning a variety of new sentence structures to express our likes and dislikes. We have also been busy participating in the RSPB’s big bird watch. We have enjoyed learning about different birds such as the robin, bluetit, magpie and the woodpecker. We are looking forward to exploring different animals after half term, when we will be visiting Brynteg Farm.

Blwyddyn 1 Awstria a Ffrainc

Am hanner tymor prysur! Dechreuon ni’r flwyddyn gan ddarllen ‘Blwyddyn Ianto’ gan Mick Inkpen. Buom yn helpu’r cymeriadau trwy ddylunio sgarff newydd iddynt, yn addurno nhw gyda phatrymau ailadroddus. Buom yn helpu Ianto addysgu dyddiau’r wythnos a misoedd y flwyddyn i’w ffrind Macs trwy ganu caneuon a’u hysgrifennu yn y drefn gywir. Aethom ni am dro i Barc Howard yn chwilio am nodweddion y gaeaf (ac wrth gwrs i chwarae yn y parc!) Hefyd, aethom ni i’r amgueddfa i weld nifer o hen arteffactau a dysgu am ein hardal leol. Defnyddion ni llawer o ansoddeiriau a chymariaethau i ddisgrifio’r hyn gwelsom ni ar ein hantur.

Ein thema ar gyfer y tymor yw ‘Amser Maith yn ôl’. Rydym ni wedi bod yn dysgu am fywyd yn yr ysgol a chartref amser maith yn ôl. Rydym ni wedi bod yn edrych ar nifer o arteffactau o hen ysgolion gan gynnwys y gansen, stocs bysedd a sythwr cefn. Darllenon ni hanes O.M Edwards a’r Welsh Not. Rydyn ni wedi dysgu bod golchi dillad llawer rhwyddach gyda help trydan a pheiriant golchi ar ôl i ni wario’r diwrnod yn casglu dŵr, sgwrio dillad gyda llaw a sychu nhw gan ddefnyddio’r mangl. Diolch yn fawr am eich holl gefnogaeth yn ystod y tymor diwethaf.

What a busy half term! We started the year by reading ‘Blwyddyn Ianto’ by Mick Inkpen. We helped the characters in the book by designing new scarves for them, decorating them using repeating patterns. We helped Ianto teach Macs his days of the week and months of the year by singing songs and sorting them into the correct order. We went for a walk to Parc Howard searching for signs of Winter (and obviously went to the park to play!) We also popped into the museum and saw lots of old artefacts and learnt about our local area. When we came back to school, we wrote about our adventure using lots of adjectives and similes to describe what we saw.

Our theme for this term is ‘Long, long ago’. We have been learning about life in schools and at home from long ago. We have been looking at artefacts used in schools from long ago including the cane, finger stocks and back straighteners! We have also read the story of O.M Edwards and learnt about the Welsh Not. We have learnt that washing clothes is a lot easier with the help of electricity and the washing machine after we spent the day carrying water, scrubbing clothes by hand and drying them by wringing them through a mangle! Thank you for you support over the last half term.

Blwyddyn 2 Portiwgal a Sweden

Dechreuodd ein thema Newydd ‘Taith i’r traeth’ gydag ymweliad i draeth Llanelli. Roedd y plant yn gyffrous dros ben pan ddarganfyddon nhw potel gwydr gyda neges wrth y Mor Leidr enwog Barti Ddu. Gofynnodd Barti Ddu am gymorth y disgyblion i glirio’r sbwriel o’r traeth er mwyn darganfod y trysor. Gwnaeth y disgyblion ymdrech arbennig i glanhau’r traeth! Mae’r disgyblion wedi defnyddio eu sgiliau creadigol I greu hunlun o nhw fel Mor Leidr yn yr ardal creadigol. Mae nhw hefyd wedi bod yn ymchwilio I ba wrthrychau o amgylch y dosbarth sydd yn arnofio ac yn suddo. Rydyn ni wedi bod yn datblygu ein sgiliau mapio. Mae’r disgyblion wedi gwneud creu mapiua trysor gwych1 Maen’t wedi dilyn map oamgylch yr ysgol gan ddefnyddio eu dealltwriaeth o gyfesurynnau i leoli cyfres o gliwiau o amgylch ardal allannol yr ysgol er mwyn darganfod y trysor cudd gan ennill darn o siocled wrth ddarganfod y cist trysor!

Gwnaeth y disgyblion dathlu Diwrnod Santes Dwynwen trwy greu cardiau serch gan efelychu Gwaith celf Kadinsky. Yn ystod win gwersi Ysgol Goedwig, mae’r disgyblion wedi bod wrthi’n creu addurniadau coed gan ddefnyddio brigau a gwlân a pheli braster i fwydo’r adar ar gyfer yr ‘RSPB Great British Birdwatch.’ Yn ein hardal fathemateg mae’r disgyblion wedi bod yn didoli trysor Barti Du gan recordio’r canlyniadau ar graff bar. Mae’r disgyblion wedi bod yn arbrofi i weld faint o drysor mae eu llong ffoil yn gallu dal. Rydyn ni wedi bod yn datblygu sgiliau codio’r disgyblion gan roi cyfarwyddiadau i symud Beebot o amgylch map trysor.

Edrychwn ymlaen at groesawi chi ar gyfer ein gwasanaethau dosbarth (Blwyddyn 2 Portiwgal- Mawrth yr 8fed/ Blwyddyn 2 Sweden- Mawrth yr 15fed) er mwyn cyflwyno'r hyn rydyn ni wedi bod yn dysgu yn yr ysgol.

Ahoi Mateys!!

We kicked off our new theme “Taith i’r Traeth” with a visit to Llanelli Beach. The children were extremely excited when they found an old glass bottle with a message inside from the famous pirate Blackbeard. He asked them to help him to clear the beach of litter so that he could discover the treasure. The children did a fantastic job cleaning the beach! Children have transformed themselves into pirates in the art area, and have been experimenting with different objects around the classroom to see which float or sink. They have created some fantastic treasure maps, and have followed a school map, using their understanding of coordinates to locate a sequence of clues around the school outdoor area to find the hidden treasure – earning themselves some chocolate when they eventually discovered the treasure chest!

Children celebrated Dydd Santes Dwynwen, creating cards using the art of Kandinsky as inspiration. They have thoroughly enjoyed their Forest Schools sessions, creating tree decorations with twigs and wool, and fat ball bird feeders in line with the RSPB Great British Birdwatch. They have worked hard sorting a chest full of Blackbeards treasure, recording the data into a graph, as well as making tin foil boats and testing them to see if they float, and how much treasure each boat will hold. Coding skills have been developed through instructing a BeeBot to move across the grid to the different locations on the treasure island.

We look forward to seeing you all at our class assembly (B2 Portiwgal 08.03.24 / B2 Sweden 15.03.24) so that we can showcase all that we have been learning in school.

Blwyddyn 3 Yr Alban a Hwngari

Ein thema'r tymor yma yw ‘Osgoi’r tip, troi’n hip!’ felly fe wnaethom ni blwyddyn 3 dysgu sut i fod yn ddylunydd ffasiwn a sut i ailgylchu adnoddau’n gywir. Diolch i chi a oedd yn gallu mynychu gwasanaeth dosbarth Hwngari ac yr Alban. Daeth Mrs Thomas, cyn-ddylunydd ffrog briodas a chyn bennaeth yr adran decstilau yn Ysgol Bryntawe, i ddysgu'r plant am y broses o ddylunio gwisg. Buom yn trafod pwysigrwydd lliwiau a’r ffyrdd y gallwn gasglu syniadau cyn creu neu uwchgylchu dilledyn y tymor nesaf.

Mae’r disgyblion wedi bod yn ymarfer eu sgiliau rygbi gyda Jonny o’r Sgarlets yn ystod yr hanner tymor yma. Maent wedi dysgu sut i basio'r bêl yn ôl a sut i’w ddal. Mae pawb wedi mwynhau’r sesiynau hyn sydd wedi bod yn bleser i’w gweld. Yn ystod y sesiynau cerdd gyda Mr Jennings, mae’r disgyblion wedi dysgu am offerynnau’r gerddorfa. Maen nhw hefyd wedi bod yn defnyddio eu lleisiau a symudiadau i ddynwared anifeiliaid yn ogystal â defnyddio rhaglen Soundmaker i gyfansoddi cerddoriaeth. Daeth Gemma Pugh o 2B Mentrus i mewn i’r ysgol i drafod beth sy’n gwneud arweinydd da gyda’r disgyblion. Roedd yn rhaid i bawb gweithio mewn grwpiau i greu twr allan o ‘marshmallows’ a sbageti. Cawson nhw dipyn o hwyl yn gwneud y dasg yma!

Ar ddiwedd yr hanner tymor yma aethon ni i Ganolfan Ailgylchu Nant-y-caws. Dysgon ni mwy am beth a sut ddylwn ni ailgylchu pethau yn yr ysgol ac adref. Roedden ni wedi syfrdanu i glywed bod hyd yn oed cychod gwenyn gyda nhw ar y safle a’i bod nhw’n cynhyrchu mêl gyda help llaw Gruff Gwenyn!

Our theme this term is 'Avoid the tip, become hip!' so we year 3 learned about how to be a fashion designer and how to recycle resources correctly. Thank you to those who were able to attend Hwngari and Alban’s class assembly. Mrs Thomas, a former wedding dress designer and former head of the textile department at Ysgol Bryntawe, came to teach the children about the process of dress design. We discussed the importance of colours and the ways we can gather ideas before creating or upcycling next term’s garment.

The pupils have been practicing their rugby skills with Jonny from the Scarlets during this half term. They have learned how to pass the ball back and how to catch it. Everyone has enjoyed these sessions which has been a pleasure to see. During the music sessions with Mr Jennings, the pupils have learned about the instruments of the orchestra. They have also been using their voices and movements to imitate animals as well as using the Soundmaker program to compose music.

Gemma Pugh from 2B Enterprise came into the school to discuss what makes a good leader with the pupils. Everyone had to work in groups to create a tower out of marshmallows and spaghetti. They had a lot of fun doing this task! At the end of this half term we went to the Nant-y-caws Recycling Centre. We learned more about what and how we should recycle things in school and at home. We were amazed to hear that they even have beehives on site and that they are producing honey with the help of Gruff Gwenyn!

Blwyddyn 4 Yr Almaen a Swistir

Dros yr hanner tymor yma rydym wedi bod yn canolbwyntio ar hanes diwydiant Llanelli. Dechreuon ein tymor drwy ymweld â Pharc Dŵr y Sandy a dysgu sut mae’r ardal wedi newid o ardal diwydiant i ardal hamdden. Mae’r cysylltiad yn glir i weld rhwng pobl Llanelli a diwydiant wrth i sawl disgybl ddod i’r Ysgol yn adrodd a rhannu storïau am hanes ei teuluoedd yn gweithio yn y pyllau glo neu ffatrïoedd lleol. Rydym hefyd wedi bod yn edrych yn fanwl ar hanes glo a thun ac oherwydd hynny aethom ar drip i ‘Big Pit’. Diwrnod arbennig i’r disgyblion ac athrawon yn cael ymweld ag amgueddfa genedlaethol Big Pit. Roedd llawer i weld ac i ddysgu yn ystod ein hymweliad ac felly yn brofiad bythgofiadwy.

Yn ystod yr hanner tymor rydym hefyd wedi cael ymwelwyr i’r Ysgol i addysgu ni am ailgylchu ac yn datblygu ein gallu i fod yn ddinasyddion egwyddorol. Roedd llawer o wybodaeth wedi cael ei rannu am bwysigrwydd ailddefnyddio ac ailgylchu. Cawsom ymweliad o Amiir o raglen Stwnsh ble roedd angen i’r disgyblion gyflawni Vlog a Blog a chyfle i ddefnyddio goggles VR. Mae’r ddau ddosbarth wedi cyflwyno gwasanaethau yn ystod yr hanner tymor yma a hyfryd oedd gweld cefnogaeth rhieni a theuluoedd yn ystod y gwasanaethau yma. Cafodd aelodau o flwyddyn 4 gyfle i gynrychioli’r Ysgol yn nhwrnamaint rygbi yn Rhydaman. Gwnaeth bawb eu gorau glas yn ystod y gemau a chyfle i arddangos eu sgiliau rygbi. Mae’r dyfodol yn edrych yn addawol am dimau chwaraeon yr Ysgol.

Over this half term we have been focusing on the history of industry in Llanelli. We started our term with a visit to Sandy Water Park to learn about how the area has changed from an industrial area to a recreation area. The connection between people of Llanelli and industry has been clear to see as numerous pupils have come to school and shared family stories of working in the coal mines or local factories. We have also been looking at the history of coal and tin and,, therefore visited ‘Big Pit’. An amazing day for pupils and teachers getting the opportunity to visit Big Pit National Coal Museum. There was a huge amount to see and to learn on our visit and, therefore, it was an amazing experience.

During the half term we have also received visits from visitors teaching us about different areas of our lives. We had a visit which taught us a lot about recycling and being global citizens. We received a lot of information regarding the importance of recycling and reusing. We also received a visit from Amiir from the programme Stwnsh where students had the opportunity to complete Vlogs and Blogs and an opportunity to use VR Goggles. Both classes have presented their yearly assemblies during this term and it was wonderful to see the support of parents and families coming to watch these assemblies. Members of year 4 also had the opportunity to represent the school in their first rugby tournament in Ammanford. Everybody gave their best during the games and showcased their rugby skills. The future of sport in the school is in safe hands.

Blwyddyn 5 Belg a'r Ffindir

Wel, am hanner tymor prysur! Mae’r plant wedi gweithio’n galed iawn ac wedi dangos eu bod yn ddysgwyr myfyriol, uchelgeisiol, hyderus ac annibynnol. Gwnaethom gychwyn ein thema newydd ‘Sut le yw Cymru?’ wrth fynd am dro lawr i draeth Llanelli. Rydym hefyd wedi bod yn dysgu am dwristiaeth yn Llanelli ac yn benodol pa atyniadau sydd gennym. Rydym i gyd wedi sylwi bod Llanelli yn le gwych i fyw ac rydym yn ffodus iawn i fyw yma. Ein cwestiwn nesaf yw ‘A ddylai twristiaid ddod i Lanelli?’. Gwnaeth y plant mwynhau gweithdy 1 Miliwn gyda Ameer Davies-Rana lle ddysgon sut i greu podlediad a flog yn y Gymraeg. Dathlom ddiwrnod Santes Dwynwen trwy greu animeiddiad, cardiau a chreu calonnau yn yr ardal allanol. Roedd y plant hefyd wedi mwynhau dysgu am wyddoniaeth fforensig gyda chwmni Zakon gan ymarfer cymryd olion bys, gwneud sampl DNA ac edrych am gliwiau.

Uchafbwynt yr hanner tymor yma, ac efallai Blwyddyn 5 cyfan, yw ein taith breswyl i Abernant. Rydym wedi bod ar bigau’r drain yn aros i fynd ac o’r diwedd mae’r amser wedi dod. I rai plant, dyma’r tro cyntaf iddyn nhw fod i ffwrdd o adref am fwy na un noson. Rydym wedi mwynhau clywed storïau Blwyddyn 6 am eu hamser nhw yn Abernant blwyddyn ddiwethaf. Yn Abernant rydym wedi bod yn ffensio, saethu, dringo, abseilio, gwneud cwrs rhwystr a mwy. Dyma rhai o’r profiadau gorau bydd y plant yn cael yn Ysgol Gymraeg Ffwrnes ac mae profi nhw gyda’u ffrindiau yn well byth!

Well, what a busy half term! The children have worked very hard and have shown that they are reflective, ambitious, confident and independent learners. We started our new theme 'What's Wales like?' by going for a walk down to Llanelli beach. We have also been learning about tourism in Llanelli and specifically what attractions we have along the coastline. We have all realised that Llanelli is a great place to live and we are very lucky to live here. Our next question is 'Should tourists come to Llanelli?'. The children enjoyed the 1Million workshop with Ameer Davies-Rana where they learned how to create a podcast and vlog in Welsh. We celebrated Saint Dwynwen's day by creating animations, cards and hearts in the outdoor area. The children also enjoyed learning about forensic science with Zakon practicing taking fingerprints, taking a DNA sample and looking for clues.

The highlight of this half term, and perhaps the whole of Year 5, is our residential trip to Manor Adventure. We eagerly awaiting our visit and finally the time has come. For some children, this is the first time they have been away from home for more than one night. We have enjoyed hearing Year 6’s stories about their time in Manor Adventure last year. In Manor Adventure we have been fencing, shooting, climbing, abseiling, completing an obstacle course and more. These are some of the best experiences the children will have at Ysgol Gymraeg Ffwrnes and experiencing them with their friends is even better!

Pump wythnos yn llawn bwrlwm a dyddiau prysur! Yn ystod yr hanner tymor yma, rydym fel blwyddyn 6 wedi bod yn cystadlu, cydweithio a chyfranogi mewn amrywiaeth o gystadlaethau, gweithdai a gweithgareddau, yn ogystal â dysgu am ein thema newydd sef ‘Ein Cefnfor, Ein Planed’. O safbwynt chwaraeon, rydym wedi cynrychioli’r ysgol yng nghystadlaethau pêl-droed, rygbi a phêl-rhwyd. Yn ogystal, cawsom weithdy ailgylchu gyda cwmni ADA er mwyn ennill gwell dealltwriaeth o sut i ofalu am ein planed trwy arbed, ailddefnyddio, ailgylchu a thrwsio. Oeddech chi’n gwybod ei fod yn bosib adeiladu tŷ allan o gewynnau wedi ailgylchu! Buom hefyd yn datblygu ein sgiliau iaith Cymraeg trwy weithgareddau ‘Ffair Taith Iaith’ gydag Ameer Rana Davies. Yn ystod y sesiwn cawsom gyfleoedd i recordio podlediadau a flogiau yn ogystal â defnyddio gogls ‘Ocolus VR’. Un o’r pethau mwyaf rydym wedi mwynhau yw ein sesiynau ‘Ysgol Goed’ gyda Miss Evans lle rydym wedi bod yn dysgu sut i greu gwarchodfan ar dir allanol yr ysgol. Yn yr wythnosau diwethaf, rydym wedi bod yn ymlacio a gwella ein lles a'n hiechyd meddwl trwy gymryd rhan mewn sesiynau lles pob dydd Gwener.

Rydym wedi cyflawni amrywiaeth o weithgareddau tu fewn a thu allan i’r dosbarth. I gyd-fynd gyda’n thema, rydym wedi bod yn dysgu am gynhesu byd-eang a’r effaith mae hyn yn cael ar ein planed. Yn benodol, rydym wedi bod yn edrych ar sut mae cynhesu byd-eang yn effeithio ar lefelau’r môr gan arwain ymlaen i edrych ar sut mae lefelau’r môr yn effeithio ar ein planed. Rydym wedi bod yn dysgu am lifogydd a systemau amddiffyn llifogydd mewn ffordd ymarferol. Gwnaethom greu model 3D o bentref ac yna ychwnaegu pa systemau amddiffyn llifogydd byddai’n addas i osod yn y pentref. Roedd rhaid ddefnyddio ein gwybodaeth o systemau peirianneg meddal a chaled a chynnig cyfiawnhad dros ein dewisiadau. Hefyd, rydym wedi cynnal arbrofion i weld pa systemau amddiffyn llifogydd yw’r mwyaf effeithiol. Yn ystod yr hanner tymor, rydym wedi cael cyfleoedd i ddatblygu ein sgiliau TGCh ymhellach trwy arbrofi â rhaglenni amrywiol wrth greu podlediadau a flogiau yn seiliedig ar waith thematig. Yn benodol, cawsom lawer o hwyl a sbri yn defnyddio ‘Adobe Animate from Audio’ i gyflawni gwaith ar lifogydd.

Yn ein gwaith mathemateg a rhifedd rydym wedi bod yn datblygu ac atgyfnerthu ein dealltwriaeth o drin data trwy gasglu data, cymharu data, darllen a dehongli graffiau yn ogystal â lluniadu amrywiaeth o raffiau. Un o’n tasgau oedd i ddefnyddio Micro-bit i greu thermomedr er mwyn mesur tymheredd gwahanol leoliadau o amgylch yr ysgol. Yna, bu’n rhaid cofnodi’r data ar daenlen Excel, creu graff ar Excel i arddangos y data ac yna dadansoddi’r data ar ‘Flip’. Edrychwn ymlaen at yr hanner tymor nesaf gyda mwy o weithgareddau a phrofiadau cyffrous.

Five weeks full of energetic and busy days! During this half term, we as year 6 have been competing, collaborating and participating in a variety of competitions, workshops and activities, as well as learning about our new theme which is 'Our Ocean, Our Planet'. From a sporting point of view, we have represented the school in football, rugby and netball competitions. In addition, we had a recycling workshop with the company ‘ADA Recyclin’g in order to gain a better understanding of how to take care of our planet by saving, reusing, recycling and repairing. Did you know that it is possible to build a house out of recycled nappies! We also developed our Welsh language skills through 'Ffair Taith Iaith' activities with Ameer Rana Davies. During the session we had opportunities to record podcasts and vlogs as well as using 'Ocolus VR' goggles. One of the things we have enjoyed the most is our 'Forest School' sessions with Miss Evans where we have been learning how to create a shelter outdoors on the school grounds. In recent weeks, we have been relaxing and improving our wellbeing and mental health by taking part in wellbeing sessions every Friday.

We have carried out a variety of activities inside and outside the classroom. To tie in with our theme, we have been learning about global warming and the effect this has on our planet. In particular, we have been looking at how global warming affects sea levels leading on to look at how rising sea levels affect our planet. We have been learning about floods and flood defense systems in a practical way. We created a 3D model of a village and then added which flood protection systems would be suitable to install in the village. We had to use our knowledge of soft and hard engineering systems and offer justification for our choices. We have also carried out experiments to see which flood protection systems are the most effective. During the half term, we have had opportunities to further develop our ICT skills by experimenting with various programs while creating podcasts and vlogs based on thematic work. In particular, we had a lot of fun using 'Adobe Animate from Audio' to carry out work on flooding.

In our mathematics and numeracy work we have been developing and reinforcing our understanding of handling data by collecting data, comparing data, reading and interpreting graphs as well as drawing a variety of graphs. One of our tasks was to use a Micro-bit to create a thermometer in order to measure the temperature of different locations around the school. Following this, we recorded the data on an Excel spreadsheet, created a graph on Excel to display the data, and then analysed the data on 'Flip'. We look forward to the next half term with more exciting activities and experiences.
