Guy’s Bar grooving into 2025
The vibes and tunes will make you shake your thang, and if you need a pick me up, Guy’s Bar is now serving cocktails, and a range of beers. Watch the sun rise out of the ocean from the dancefloor -- what a perfect start to the day!
ESSENTIALS
Getting to Guy’s Bar is easy if you know how. This advice is given by some who has been going there for well over 10 years, so pay attention.
There are two ways to get to Guy's Bar -- either a boat from Haad Rin beach, or a 4x4 Truck from near the traffic lights in Ban Tai.
DO NOT try to ride there on your bike or in a car because it’s about 4-5 kms of serious off-roading on an unkempt hilly jungle track. Even experienced drivers find it challenging so we strongly suggest just getting a truck or boat and enjoying the party -- let the professionals deal with your transportation.
BOAT
If the water isn't rough, a taxi boat is the easiest, fastest and simplest way to get to Guy's Bar. With a flat ocean, boats take about 7 minutes from Haad Rin -- where the full moon party happens. Walk down to the beach and you will find the taxi boat drivers.
The fare is about 300+ baht per person depending on conditions and they will usually only leave if they have at least 6-10 people. You can choose to ‘go now’ if you are willing to pay the extra money, or you can do what we do, sit down, have a beer and wait for some other like minded party people to turn up -- who knows, you may make fun new friends on the way.
The boat drivers all work together so trying to get cheaper fare by playing them off against each other won’t work. The price goes up if the ocean is rough and the journey becomes less and less appealing, and more and more… wet.
The boats drop people off either outside The Sanctuary, a local health resort, or at the other end of the beach. Either way, you follow the paths behind the beach and head up, Guy’s bar is about 5 minutes walk and you should be able to follow the music.
TRUCK
When the ocean is rough, a truck is the best and safest way to go. On party nights/days, trucks leave regularly from a small truck stand very close to the 7/11 by the traffic lights in Ban Tai.
It takes about 40 minutes and the last 5 kms of the road is in bad condition so the ride is bumpy and slow. However, the truck will drop you off right outside the entrance to Guy's Bar so no trekking through the jungle or up from the beach.
Again, please don't drive yourself. It’s not unusual to meet tourists who have got stuck on this road.
