Colby went 2-for-4 on the man-advantage and controlled the pace of the game throughout, keeping Connecticut off the board. In game two, Lulu Gray opened the scoring in the second period, followed by Martodam in the third, and Maria Pierce added an unassisted power-play goal late in the third to complete the shutout. Goaltender Ally Martiniello played all 180 minutes this week, only allowing a single goal and earning her first career shutouts. Men’s Basketball Collects Two Wins During Three-Game Week

The Mules put together a productive three-game stretch, earning wins over Bowdoin and Rhode Island College while closing the week with a narrow setback against Bates.

Dan Civello

Colby opened the week with a rivalry victory, using a dominant second half to pull away from Bowdoin at home. Dan Civello led the way with 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists, sparking a 46-point second frame that pushed the Mules ahead for good. Max Poulton added 19 points on efficient shooting and nine rebounds while the Mules’ depth delivered 21 bench points and a 39–35 edge on the glass. Colby knocked down 10 threes and held Bowdoin to 23.8 percent from deep to secure the win. The Mules carried that momentum into Thursday’s trip to Rhode Island College, where another balanced offensive performance helped deliver a road victory. Civello again paced the scoring with 19 points, and Poulton added 14 to help Colby shoot 45.6 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three. The bench once again came up big with 32 points, highlighted by Matthew Lamy’s 11 points and a trio of threes. Colby also controlled the boards with a 41–34 advantage and limited the Anchormen to 32.8 percent shooting.

Max Poulton

Colby closed the week with a tight battle against Bates in a back-and-forth matchup in the Margaret M. Crook Center. The Mules received a season-high 25 points from Poulton and a strong 13-point effort from Mason Dobie off the bench, but Bates’ hot perimeter shooting proved to be the difference late. Despite the loss, Colby had five players score seven or more points and went 28-for-35 at the free-throw line in a highly physical matchup (58 total fouls) to stay within striking distance throughout.

Savion Stroud

Men’s Basketball moves to 12–4 on the season (1-2 in NESCAC play) and will wrap up non-conference action Tuesday hosting Husson before facing Bowdoin again Saturday.

Women’s Basketball Splits Road Trip, Moves to 10–5

Colby went 1–1 on the road this past week, earning a midweek win at Husson before falling short in a Sunday NESCAC matchup at #14 Bates.

Kate Olenik

Against the Eagles, the Mules used a dominant middle stretch to pull away from Husson, outscoring the Eagles 38–18 across the second and third quarters on the way to a 61–47 victory. Kate Olenik knocked down four threes and led the Mules with 16 points, while Lydia Mordarski added 14 points and seven rebounds. Amelia Hanscom scored 10, and Colby forced 19 turnovers, converting them into 28 points. The Mules finished with a 44–39 rebounding advantage and held Husson to just six points in the third quarter.

Amelia Hanscom

On Sunday, despite a late charge, Colby was unable to complete the comeback in a 57–52 loss at Bates. Olenik again paced the offense with 15 points and seven boards, and Hanscom added 14 on 7-for-10 shooting. The Mules shot 61.5 percent in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit. Caroline Hartley provided eight points and six rebounds off the bench.

Caroline Hartley

The Mules now sit at 10-5 overall (2-1 in conference play) and will conclude their five game road trip on Tuesday at Maine Maritime before facing Bowdoin at home Saturday.
