Ffederasiwn Ysgolion Trimsaran a Ffwrnes / Federation of Trimsaran and Ffwrnes Schools
Yn dilyn cyfarfodydd o Lywodraethwyr Ysgol Trimsaran ar 21ain o Hydref 2025 ac Ysgol Ffwrnes ar 10fed o Dachwedd 2025, cadarnhawyd yn unfrydol y penderfyniad i symud ymlaen gyda’r broses o sefydlu Ffederasiwn ffurfiol rhwng y ddwy ysgol. Cadarnhawyd y penderfyniad hwn yn ffurfiol mewn cyfarfod ar y cyd o’r ddau Gorff Llywodraethol ar ddydd Mercher, 12fed o Dachwedd 2025. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen yn fawr i’r Ffederasiwn ffurfiol ddechrau ar y 5ed o Ionawr 2026.
Following meetings of the Governing Bodies of Ysgol Trimsaran on 21st October 2025 and Ysgol Ffwrnes on 10th November 2025, a unanimous decision was reached to proceed with the process of establishing a formal Federation between the two schools. This decision was subsequently ratified at a joint meeting of both Governing Bodies held on Wednesday, 12th November 2025. We are very much looking forward to the formal Federation commencing on the 5th of January 2026.

Meithrin Cymru ac Iwerddon
Dros yr hanner tymor diwethaf, mae’r plant meithrin wedi bod yn mwynhau amrywiaeth o weithgareddau cyffrous sy’n cyfuno dysgu ymarferol gyda chwarae creadigol. Dechreuom yr hanner tymor gyda stori Mrs Wishi Washi, a roddodd gyfle i ni ddysgu am anifeiliaid y fferm. Cawsom lawer o hwyl wrth olchi’r anifeiliaid mwdlyd yn yr ardal ddŵr, gan ddatblygu ein sgiliau echddygol bras a sgiliau iaith.
Yn ogystal â hyn, buom yn dysgu am drin arian drwy chwarae rôl yn ein siop fferm, gan annog sgiliau mathemategol a chyfathrebu wrth brynu a gwerthu eitemau. Mae’r plant hefyd wedi bod yn datblygu eu sgiliau creadigol ac annibynnol yn y gweithdy pren, gan ddefnyddio offer yn ddiogel i greu gwaith celf unigryw.
Yn ystod yr wythnosau diwethaf, cawsom ymweliad arbennig gan Y Bachgen Bach Toes, a ysbrydolodd lawer o greadigrwydd yn y dosbarth. Wedi hynny, bu’r plant yn rholio’u llewys I fyny i bobi ac addurno bechgyn bach toes eu hunain. Roedd hwn yn gyfle gwych i gyfuno adrodd straeon gyda dysgu ymarferol, gan ddatblygu sgiliau coginio, dilyn cyfarwyddiadau, a gweithio fel tîm. Ar ddechrau’r wythnos hon fe wnaethom wahodd ein rhieni a gofalwyr mewn I’r Ysgol i wylio ni’n canu carolau ac I chwarae a chreu crefft Nadoligaidd gyda ni.
Mae’r hanner tymor hwn wedi bod yn llawn profiadau cyfoethog sy’n cefnogi datblygiad iaith, mathemateg, creadigrwydd a sgiliau cymdeithasol. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen at fwy o anturiaethau yn y tymor nesaf!
Over the past half term, the nursery children have been enjoying a variety of exciting activities that combine hands-on learning with creative play. We began the half term with the story Mrs Wishi Washi, which gave us the opportunity to learn about farm animals. We had lots of fun washing the muddy animals in the water area, developing our gross motor skills and language skills.
In addition, we learned about handling money through role play in our farm shop, encouraging mathematical and communication skills while buying and selling items. The children have also been developing their creative and independent skills in the woodworking area, using tools safely to create unique pieces of artwork.
During the past few weeks, we had a special visit from the Gingerbread Man, which inspired lots of creativity in the classroom. Afterwards, the children rolled up their sleeves to bake and decorate their own gingerbread men. This was a great opportunity to combine storytelling with practical learning, developing cooking skills, following instructions, and working as a team. At the beginning of this week, we invited our parents and carers into the school to watch us sing carols and to play and create Christmas crafts with us.
This half term has been full of rich experiences that support the development of language, mathematics, creativity, and social skills. We are looking forward to more adventures next term!
Derbyn Sbaen a'r Eidal
Mae’r tymor hwn wedi bod yn gyffrous ac yn brysur iawn yn y Dosbarth Derbyn wrth i ni weithio tuag at y toriad Nadolig! Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o rannu ein bod wedi bod yn dysgu darllen ac wedi cyrraedd y set werdd o’n cynllun darllen Tric a Chlic. Mae ein sgiliau iaith Gymraeg hefyd wedi datblygu’n hyfryd drwy ein sesiynau Cynllun Clonc dyddiol. Rydyn ni wedi mwynhau profiadau dysgu bywyd go iawn hefyd, gan gynnwys ymweliad â’n siop goffi leol lle defnyddiodd y plant eu sgiliau i archebu a phrynu eu diodydd eu hunain, yn ogystal â dysgu am arian drwy chwarae rôl a gweithgareddau ymarferol. I ddathlu’r tymor Nadolig, cawsom daith wych i wylio sioe Nadolig, ac roedd y plant yn disgleirio wrth iddynt berfformio eu Hanifeiliaid eu hunain. Am dymor bendigedig o ddysgu a hwyl!
This term has been an exciting and busy one in Reception as we’ve worked our way towards the Christmas break! We are very proud to share that we have been learning to read and have now reached the green set of our Tric a Chlic reading scheme. Our Welsh language skills have also been growing beautifully through our daily Cynllun Clonc sessions. We have enjoyed real-life learning experiences too, including a visit to our local coffee shop where the children confidently used their skills to order and buy their own drinks, as well as exploring money through both role play and hands-on activities. To celebrate the festive season, we had a wonderful trip to watch a Christmas show, and the children shone brightly as they performed their very own Nativity. What a fantastic term of learning and fun!
Blwyddyn 1 Awstria a Ffrainc
Mae wedi bod yn dymor prysur a chyffrous iawn ym mlwyddyn 1, ac mae’r plant wedi gweithio’n hynod o galed drwy gydol y tymor.
Roeddem yn falch iawn o groesawu arolygwyr Estyn i’r ysgol y tymor hwn. Cynrychiolodd y plant Flwyddyn 1 yn rhagorol a mynegasant eu hunain yn glir ac yn hyderus wrth siarad am eu dysgu, eu trefniadau dyddiol a’r hyn y maent yn ei fwynhau fwyaf yn y dosbarth. Dangosant lefel uchel o hyder a dylent fod yn falch iawn o’u cyflawniadau.
Buom hefyd yn ffodus i groesawu nifer o ymwelwyr arbennig. Ymwelodd Cŵn Tywys â’r ysgol i helpu’r plant i ddeall sut y mae cŵn tywys yn cefnogi unigolion â nam ar eu golwg. Yn ogystal, ymwelodd Canolfan Fyddar Llanelli i drafod colli clyw a’r ffyrdd y mae pobl yn addasu wrth wynebu namau synhwyraidd. Cyfrannodd y profiadau hyn at ddatblygu empathi, dealltwriaeth a pharch at eraill ymhlith y plant.
Mewn mathemateg, mae’r ffocws wedi bod ar rifedd. Mae’r plant wedi bod yn datblygu eu hyder ac yn dod yn fwy annibynnol wrth ddefnyddio adnoddau’r dosbarth megis llinellau rhif, cownteri a sgwariau 100. Maent yn dysgu dewis yr adnoddau mwyaf priodol i gefnogi eu meddwl, sy’n gam pwysig yn eu taith ddysgu.
Yn llythrennedd, rydym wedi canolbwyntio ar ymestyn a gwella brawddegau. Mae’r plant yn dechrau defnyddio ansoddeiriau er mwyn ychwanegu manylder a diddordeb at eu hysgrifennu. Yn ogystal, rydym wedi dechrau cyflwyno cymariaethau, gan annog y disgyblion i ddefnyddio “fel” er mwyn gwneud eu hysgrifennu’n fwy disgrifiadol a dychmygus.
Diolch yn fawr am eich cefnogaeth barhaus. Rydym yn falch iawn o’r cynnydd a wnaed gan Flwyddyn 1 yn ystod y tymor hwn. Hoffem ddymuno Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i’n holl deuluoedd, ac edrychwn ymlaen at groesawu’r plant yn ôl ar gyfer tymor cyffrous arall.
It has been a very busy and exciting term in Year 1, and the children have worked extremely hard throughout.
We were proud to welcome inspectors from Estyn into our school this term. The children represented Year 1 wonderfully and spoke very well about their learning, routines, and what they enjoy most in class. They showed great confidence and should be very proud of themselves. We were also lucky to have some very special visitors.
Guide Dogs came to visit and helped the children understand how guide dogs support people with visual impairments. In addition, the Llanelli Deaf Centre visited to talk about hearing loss and how people adapt when faced with impaired senses. These experiences helped the children develop empathy, understanding, and respect for others.
In mathematics, our focus has been on number. The children have been developing their confidence and becoming more independent when using classroom resources such as number lines, counters, and 100 squares. They are learning to choose the tools that best support their thinking, which is an important step in their learning journey. In literacy, we have been working hard to extend and improve sentences. The children are beginning to include adjectives to add detail and interest to their writing. We have also started to explore similes, encouraging pupils to make comparisons using “like” or “as” to make their sentences more descriptive and imaginative.
Thank you for your continued support. We are very proud of the progress Year 1 has made this term. We would like to wish all our families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming the children back for another exciting term ahead.
Blwyddyn 2 Portiwgal a Sweden
Ein cwestiwn ymholi'r Hanner Tymor yma oedd ‘Sut i gadw’r ymennydd yn iach?’ Ar ddechrau’r thema darllenodd y disgyblion y llyfr ‘Cwmwl Cai’ a mynd ati i greu llyfryn gwybodaeth ar sut i gadw’r ymennydd yn iach. Defnyddiodd y disgyblion eu sgiliau creadigol i greu ymennydd allan o glai, i beintio ymennydd gyda phaent dŵr ac i fraslunio ymennydd gyda phastel lliw. Yn ystod ein gwersi ymarfer corff mae’r disgyblion wedi bod yn brysur yn arbrofi i weld sut mae ymarfer corff yn effeithio ar guriad y galon? Defnyddiodd y disgyblion monitor cyfradd curiad y galon i fesur curiad y galon cyn ac ar ôl gwneud munud o ymarfer corff. Daeth y disgyblion i’r casgliad bod ymarfer corff yn codi curiad y galon ac yn effeithio’r corff mewn ffurf wahanol e.e.chwysu, allan o anadl. Yn ystod ein gwersi mathemateg mae’r disgyblion wedi bod yn datblygu eu sgiliau mesur hyd gan ddefnyddio unedau safonol i fesur uchder disgyblion y dosbarth ac i fesur a threfnu amrywiaeth o esgidiau. Mae’r disgyblion hefyd wedi bod yn datblygu eu dealltwriaeth o werth lle trwy ddosrannu rhifau 2, 3 a 4 digid. Un o uchafbwyntiau’r Hanner Tymor oedd ein cyngerdd Nadolig. Gwnaeth pob disgybl ymdrech arbennig i gofio ac adrodd eu rhan yn arbennig o dda yn y capel ac rwy’n siŵr byddwch yn cytuno, roedd y canu yn wych! I ddathlu ein hymchwil gwych gwnaethom Ffair Gwyddoniaeth. Roedd yn hyfryd i weld y disgyblion yn dangos balchder yn eu gwaith! Diolch yn fawr am eich cefnogaeth y Tymor yma, mwynhewch y gwyliau Nadolig a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
Our inquiry question this Half Term was 'How to keep the brain healthy?' At the start of the theme the pupils read the book 'Cwmwl Cai' and went on to create an information booklet on how to keep the brain healthy. The pupils used their creative skills to create a brain out of clay, to paint a brain with water colours and to sketch a brain with colored pastel. During our P.E. lessons the pupils have been busy experimenting to see how exercise affects our heartbeats? The pupils used a heart rate monitor to measure their heart rate before and after doing a minute of exercise. The pupils came to the conclusion that exercise raises the heart rate and affects the body in a different ways e.g. sweating, out of breath.
During our mathematics lessons, the pupils have been developing their length measurement skills using standard units to measure the height of the pupils in the class and to measure and organize a variety of shoes. The pupils have also been developing their understanding of place value by partitioning 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers. One of the highlights of Half Term was our Christmas concert. Every pupil made a special effort to remember and recite their part particularly well in chapel and I'm sure you will agree, the singing was fantastic! To celebrate our research work we held a Science Fair. It was lovely to see the pupils showing pride in their work! Blwyddyn 3 Alban a Hwngari
Mae wedi bod yn dymor prysur a chyffrous arall ym Mlwyddyn 3, ac mae’r plant wedi dysgu cryn dipyn ar draws y cwricwlwm. Mewn gwyddoniaeth, rydyn ni wedi archwilio dannedd anifeiliaid ac wedi cymharu’r gwahaniaethau a’r tebygrwydd rhwng dannedd anifeiliaid a dannedd pobl. Gan ddefnyddio adnoddau gwych o Amgueddfa Abertawe a Chanolfan Gwlypdiroedd Penclacwydd, gan gynnwys penglogau a dannedd, bu’r plant yn ymchwilio i ba anifeiliaid yr oeddent yn perthyn iddynt. Roeddent yn gallu enwi gwahanol fathau o ddannedd yn hyderus ac egluro beth mae pob anifail yn ei fwyta. O ganlyniad, gall y plant nawr egluro’n glir y gwahaniaeth rhwng cigysyddion, llysysyddion a hollysyddion. Defnyddiwyd hefyd diagramau Venn i rwpio anifeiliaid yn ôl eu deietau a’u nodweddion.
Gwnaethom gynnal arbrawf plisgyn wy i ddysgu mwy am iechyd dannedd. Roedd y plisgyn wy yn gweithredu fel enamel dannedd, gan ein galluogi i arsylwi sut mae gwahanol ddiodydd yn effeithio ar ddannedd ac yn achosi plac. Roedd y plant yn synnu o ddarganfod bod sudd oren yn un o’r diodydd mwyaf niweidiol, er bod orennau yn ffrwythau sy’n darparu fitamin C! Arweiniodd hyn at rai trafodaethau rhagorol am ddewisiadau iach.
Yn y gwersi cerddoriaeth, mae Mr Jennings wedi dysgu ni sut i chwarae gyda’n gilydd fel grŵp gan ddefnyddio boom whackers i berfformio Jingle Bells. Dysgom hefyd sut i chwarae’r alaw hon ar y recorders wrth baratoi ar gyfer ein cyngerdd Nadolig, a oedd yn llawer o hwyl ac yn gyfle gwych i ddatblygu sgiliau cerddorol a gwaith tîm.
Mae’r plant hefyd wedi dysgu sgil newydd y tymor hwn – pwyth croes. Maent wedi dangos amynedd a chanolbwyntio rhagorol ac yn methu aros i ddangos eu gwaith gorffenedig yn eu calendrau. Diolch, fel bob amser, am eich cefnogaeth barhaus. Rydym yn falch iawn o ba mor galed mae’r plant wedi gweithio’r tymor hwn.
It has been another very busy and exciting term in Year 3, and the children have learned a great deal across the curriculum. In science, we explored animal teeth and compared the differences and similarities between animal and human teeth. Using fantastic resources from Swansea Museum and Penclacwydd Wetland Centre, including skulls and teeth, the children investigated which animals they belonged to. They confidently named different types of teeth and explained what each animal eats. As a result, the children can now clearly explain the differences between carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We also used Venn diagrams to group animals based on their diets and features.
We carried out an eggshell experiment to learn more about dental health. Eggshells acted like tooth enamel, allowing us to observe how different drinks affect teeth and cause plaque. The children were shocked to discover that orange juice was one of the most damaging drinks, even though oranges are a fruit and provide us with vitamin C! This led to some excellent discussions about healthy choices.
In music, Mr Jennings has taught us how to play together as a group using boom whackers to perform Jingle Bells. We also learned how to play this tune on the recorders in preparation for our Christmas concert, which was great fun and a wonderful opportunity to develop teamwork and musical skills.
The children have also learned a new skill this term – cross stitch. They have shown great patience and concentration and can’t wait to show their finished work in their calendars. We are very proud of how hard the children have worked this term.
Blwyddyn 4 Almaen a Swistir
Mae wedi bod yn hanner tymor hynod o brysur a phleserus wrth i ni barhau â’n thema, ‘Bwyd Iach, Bywyd Iach’. Mae’r plant wedi mwynhau dysgu am y system dreulio yn fawr, gan gymryd rhan mewn arbrawf hwyliog a chofiadwy sef y “stumog mewn bag” i ymchwilio pa mor hir mae gwahanol fwydydd yn eu cymryd i dreulio. Rydym hefyd wedi gwneud bisgedi heb bobi blasus iawn ac wedi ysgrifennu testunau esboniad ar sut mae’r system dreulio’n gweithio, gan ddefnyddio geirfa wyddonol yn hyderus. Mewn mathemateg, rydym wedi bod yn edrych ar briodweddau siapiau 2D a 3D drwy weithgareddau ymarferol.
Tu hwnt i’r dosbarth, mae’r hanner tymor wedi bod yn llawn profiadau cyffrous. Mae aelodau’r côr wedi bod yn brysur iawn yn ymweld â gwahanol lefydd i ganu carolau Nadolig a diddanu eraill. Bu’r tîm rygbi tag yn cystadlu yn nhwrnament yr Urdd yn Llanymddyfri, gan gynrychioli’r ysgol yn wych. Gwnaethom wisgo i fyny ar gyfer Plant mewn Angen ac ysgrifennu cerddi blacowt ar gyfer Dydd y Cofio, wedi’u hysbrydoli gan In Flanders Fields. Uchafbwynt mawr oedd ein gwasanaeth Nadolig yng Nghapel Greenfield, lle perfformiodd y plant yn arbennig o dda ac roeddent wrth eu bodd yn perfformio o flaen eu rhieni. Mae wedi bod yn hanner tymor hynod o brysur, ac rydym i gyd yn edrych ymlaen at seibiant haeddiannol iawn.
It has been an extremely busy and enjoyable half term as we have continued our theme, ‘Healthy Food, Healthy Life’. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the digestive system, taking part in a fun and memorable “stomach in a bag” experiment to investigate how long different foods take to digest. We also made some delicious no-bake biscuits and wrote explanation texts describing how the digestive system works, using scientific vocabulary with growing confidence. In mathematics, pupils have been exploring the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, developing their reasoning and understanding through practical activities. Beyond the classroom, it has been a term full of exciting opportunities. Our choir pupils have had a very busy half term, visiting various venues to entertain others with festive carols. The tag rugby team represented the school brilliantly at the Urdd tournament in Llandovery, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship. We also enjoyed dressing up to support Children in Need and marked Remembrance Day by writing thoughtful blackout poems inspired by In Flanders Fields. A real highlight was our Christmas service at Greenfield Chapel, where the children performed wonderfully and clearly enjoyed sharing the occasion with their families. It has truly been a packed half term, and we are all now looking forward to a well-deserved break.
Blwyddyn 5 Belg a'r Ffindir
Mae disgyblion Blwyddyn 5 wedi dangos gwaith caled eithriadol dros yr hanner tymor hwn. Yn ystod ymweliad Estyn, bu’r plant yn gweithio’n galed i ddangos eu sgiliau a’u brwdfrydedd dros ddysgu, gan ymfalchïo yn eu hymatebion a’u hymddygiad cadarnhaol. Yn y gwersi gwyddoniaeth a daearyddiaeth, buont yn dysgu am effaith datgoedwigo ar ein planed, gan drafod sut y gallwn ni i gyd gyfrannu at ofalu am yr amgylchedd. Ym mathemateg, mae’r dosbarth wedi bod yn ymarfer lluosi hir, gan ddefnyddio strategaethau gwahanol i ddatrys problemau heriol. Un o uchafbwyntiau’r tymor oedd perfformio yn ein gwasanaeth Nadolig. Roedd y plant yn canu ac yn adrodd gyda hyder, gan greu awyrgylch arbennig i bawb. Mae eu hymroddiad a’u gwaith wedi bod yn amlwg drwy gydol y tymor. Wrth edrych ymlaen, mae pawb yn gyffrous am y flwyddyn newydd a’n hymweliad i Abernant. Bydd hwn yn gyfle gwych i gryfhau cyfeillgarwch, datblygu sgiliau newydd ac adeiladu atgofion arbennig. Diolch i’r disgyblion am eu hymdrechion – rydyn ni’n falch iawn ohonoch chi!
Year 5 pupils have shown exceptional hard work this half term. During the Estyn visit, the children worked diligently to demonstrate their skills and enthusiasm for learning, taking pride in their responses and positive behaviour. In science and geography lessons, they learned about the impact of deforestation on our planet, discussing how we can all contribute to caring for the environment. In mathematics, the class has mastered long multiplication, using different strategies to solve challenging problems. One of the highlights of the term was performing in our Christmas service. The children sang and recited with confidence, creating a special atmosphere for everyone. Their dedication and hard work have been evident throughout the term. Looking ahead, everyone is excited about the new year and our visit to Abernant. This will be a fantastic opportunity to strengthen friendships, develop new skills and create special memories. Thank you to the pupils for their efforts – we are very proud of you!
Blwyddyn 6 Pwyl a Groeg
Wrth i ni ddod at ddiwedd tymor prysur a chyffrous, rydym yn falch i rannu rhai o'r profiadau dysgu gwerthfawr mae’r disgyblion wedi mwynhau. Maent wedi cymryd rhan mewn ystod eang o weithgareddau ymarferol, creadigol ac academaidd, gan ddatblygu sgiliau pwysig ar draws. Yn ystod Wythnos y Cofio, fe ddatblygodd y disgyblion eu dealltwriaeth trwy weithgareddau trawsgwricwlaidd, gan gynnwys dylunio a gwnïo pabi ffelt, creu fideos Cofio TGCh, cynhyrchu gwaith celf silwét, a defnyddio rhifedd bywyd go iawn i ddod o hyd i ddeunyddiau cost-effeithiol. Datblygodd y disgyblion sgiliau bywyd hanfodol hefyd drwy weithdy CPR. Dysgon sut i adnabod trawiad ar y galon, perfformio cywasgiadau ar y frest, galw am gymorth a defnyddio'r safle adferol yn ddiogel. Ym maes llythrennedd, cynhyrchodd y disgyblion ddarnau ysgrifennu dychmygus a chreadigol, gan ddatblygu eu sgiliau adrodd straeon trwy greu cymeriadau, lleoliadau a phlotiau manwl, gan ganolbwyntio ar iaith diddorol. Fe wnaethant ddatblygu eu sgiliau artistig ymhellach trwy astudio gwaith yr artist Cymreig Rhiannon Roberts, gan arbrofi gyda'i steil nodedig i gynhyrchu gwaith celf a oedd yn adlewyrchu ei defnydd o liw, gwead ac emosiwn. Bu gweithgareddau mathemateg y tymor hwn yn ymarferol ac yn gysylltiedig â’r byd go iawn. Archwiliodd y disgyblion onglau trwy weithgareddau fel ymchwilio i onglau ar fwrdd pŵl, creu gwaith celf yn seiliedig ar onglau, ac adnabod onglau yn yr amgylchedd awyr agored. Atgyfnerthodd y gweithgareddau hyn eu dealltwriaeth o gysyniadau mathemategol wrth gysylltu dysgu â bywyd bob dydd. Roedd gwersi gwyddoniaeth yr un mor ddiddorol ac ymarferol. Dadansoddodd a chymharodd y disgyblion galon mochyn, hwyaden a tharw, gan ddysgu am y gwahaniaethau anatomegol. Cynhalion nhw arbrofion ar gydnawsedd grwpiau gwaed, mapio llif y gwaed trwy'r galon, a mesur onglau o fewn y system gylchrediad gwaed. Gan ddefnyddio Adobe, creodd y disgyblion fideos digidol yn egluro cydrannau gwaed, gan gyfuno gwybodaeth wyddonol â sgiliau digidol. Mae wedi bod yn hanner tymor gwirioneddol gyfoethog a chynhyrchiol, yn llawn dysgu ymarferol, creadigrwydd a datrys problemau. Dymunwn Nadolig llawen i chi gyd, a diolch am eich cefnogaeth barhaus.
As we come to the end of a busy and exciting autumn term, we are pleased to share some of the valuable learning experiences pupils have enjoyed. They have taken part in a wide range of practical, creative and academic activities, developing important skills throughout. During Remembrance Week, pupils deepened their understanding of its significance through cross-curricular learning. They designed and stitched felt poppies, strengthening sewing skills such as threading needles and joining fabric. Using ICT, pupils created Remembrance videos that included music, voice-overs, images and information. They also produced silhouette artwork, experimenting with colour, shape and contrast, and applied real-life numeracy by researching and comparing prices to find the most cost-effective materials.
Pupils also developed essential life skills through workshops, including CPR training. They learned how to recognise cardiac arrest, check responsiveness and breathing, perform chest compressions, call for help and use the recovery position safely. In literacy and creative work, pupils produced imaginative writing pieces, developing their storytelling skills by creating detailed characters, settings, and plots, while focusing on engaging language. They further developed their artistic skills by studying the work of Welsh artist Rhiannon Roberts, experimenting with her distinctive style to produce artwork that reflected her use of bold colour, texture, and emotion.
Mathematics learning this term was hands-on and applied to real-world contexts. Pupils explored angles through activities such as investigating pool table shots, creating artwork based on angles, and identifying and photographing angles in the outdoor environment. These activities reinforced their understanding of mathematical concepts while connecting learning to everyday life. Science lessons were equally engaging and practical. Pupils dissected and compared pig, duck, and bull hearts, learning about anatomical similarities and differences. They conducted experiments on blood group compatibility, mapped blood flow through the heart, and measured angles within the circulatory system. Using Adobe, pupils created digital videos explaining blood components, combining scientific knowledge with digital skills.
It has been a truly enriching and productive half term, filled with hands-on learning, creativity, problem-solving, and community engagement. We wish all families a restful and joyful Christmas, and thank you for your continued support.
