Welcome back!
We started the new term learning about religious ceremonies and promises in RE, exploring why they are important and what they mean to different people.
In PSHE, we have been focusing on safety and the changing body. We’ve talked about how to stay safe, age restrictions (social media definitely shocked us!), asthma, and how we change as we grow up.
In English, we have been reading The Boy at the Back of the Class. The children have been extremely respectful while learning about the character Ahmet. We wrote powerful scene descriptions of his refugee camp in Calais, France, really thinking about emotions, atmosphere and detail. To help us get into character, we stepped into Ahmet’s shoes by setting the scene in our classroom and taking part in hot-seating activities.
Some children have also been attending Science Club on Tuesday afternoons, where they had great fun designing and building earthquake-proof structures. They tested different techniques to make their buildings stronger and more stable so they could withstand an earthquake!
In Maths, the children have started division and have been working hard using short division methods.
In Spanish, the children have been looking at fruit. The children have enjoyed playing fun games to remember each one.
Thanks for reading our class blog!
