12/15/2023 Parent Update

Important 1:1 Computer Program Information for the 2024-2025 School year below -

  • At the October 9th School Board meeting, the Board voted to allow the Tech Department to seek bids for Chromebooks to be purchased for the 2024-2025 School year 1:1 Computer Program. Pending Board approval, all grades (5-8) at the middle school level will be provided a school-issued Chromebook for their day-to-day school work for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • We know that the holiday season in the past has been a good time to look for deals on laptops to be used for the BYOD program, so we wanted to make sure to get this announcement out to you prior to holiday season. In short, please do not purchase new laptops for your incoming middle school student(s), of any grade, 5-8.

Congrats to ZW Steel Eagles for qualifying for State!

  • Alyssa Ye, Sarthak Gupta, Johan Chalakkal Bejoy, & Kyra Agarwal will compete at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 23, 2024.
  • Good luck!

ZCS Dumpsters & Abitibi Recycling

  • ZCS is pleased to partner with the community to promote recycling efforts through the Abitibi program (yellow community recycling dumpsters) on our campuses. In order for the provider to continue offering this program, we would ask that users please observe the posted acceptable materials lists on the bins themselves, as well as be aware that any material placed outside trash and recycle bins results in additional fees charged to ZCS and contents are disposed of as trash.
  • ZCS is assessed thousands of dollars each month when dumpsters are overflowed, or items are left outside of them on the ground. If there is no room to close the lids on any trash or recycling bin, please do not overfill or leave items outside the dumpsters.
  • Thank you to those who participate with us in efforts to recycle and to keep trash in its place while reducing fees.

Safety & Security Update:

We have had some safety concerns with students staying after school unsupervised. Students are not to remain in the building after school, unless they are participating in a club or sport, or if they are meeting with a teacher directly after school. Please ensure that your child understands these rules. Thank you for helping us keep ZWest safe and secure.
