Project Description:

With a shared vision of increasing year-round access to wellness opportunities in Fargo, the Fargo Park District and Sanford Health teamed up with architects to develop the master plan and first two phases of the Fargo Parks Sports Center at the 123-acre Sanford Sports Complex. The facility includes 95,000 square feet of multisport indoor turf with a 350-meter three-lane walking track, eight hardwood courts, a full-sized collegiate basketball court, two indoor ice sheets, six indoor pickleball courts, an indoor playground, multipurpose support/amenity spaces, and the Fargo Park District central offices and building administration. The center is also home to a 25,000-square-foot tenant partnership with Sanford Health, a large regional health system. Here, Sanford Sports Performance and Sanford Sports Academy offer state-of-the-art athletic training academies, hydrotherapy, sports performance and physical therapy, as well as academy basketball, baseball and volleyball programming. Services include individualized training, a plyometrics gym and a sprint track. Sanford Health’s services are strategically placed in proximity to the center’s courts, ice and fields — all located along a central concourse that provides high visibility into glassed-in athletic spaces. The end-to-end visibility of the concourse promotes the cross-circulation of hundreds, and potentially thousands, of people utilizing the facility at one time. The Fargo Parks Sports Center was designed to serve more than 20,000 local children, provide gathering space for 20-plus local community organizations, and attract more than one million local and regional visitors annually.
