Project Description:
The Hagerstown Field House is an indoor sports tourism destination designed to strengthen community wellness while attracting regional tournaments that drive economic impact. Commissioned by the City of Hagerstown as a city-owned facility, the project supports youth competitive sports, local recreation and large-scale athletic events within a flexible, highly visible environment that keeps energy and activity front and center. The building is organized as a multi-activity hub with six adaptable playing surfaces, including a four-court gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and field hockey, plus two turf fields for soccer and lacrosse. The gymnasium’s tip-and-roll bleachers, overhead goals and nets, and dedicated floor outlets maximize changeover efficiency and enable multiple event configurations. Transparent dasher boards at key spectator zones maintain strong visual connections to the turf fields, ensuring families and fans stay engaged across simultaneous activities. A spectator mezzanine/balcony provides panoramic views and additional seating, reinforcing the facility’s role as a true tournament venue. At the heart of the plan, a full-service food-and-beverage zone anchors the experience between the courts and turf fields. With an expansive dining area, service counter, commercial kitchen and bar, the area functions as more than concessions, creating a social center for gathering, refueling and celebrating. The field house also includes an esports gaming lounge, dedicated fitness and weight training spaces with separate locker rooms and check-in, and four multipurpose party rooms that support everything from birthdays to meetings, expanding community value and generating year-round revenue. Bold graphics and branding throughout reinforce identity and elevate the venue as a premier destination for sports and recreation.
