The children had a great time on their trip to Oaklands Garden Centre where they had the opportunity explore the orchard and pick their own apples and pears straight from the trees. They loved learning how the fruit grew and about the different varieties.
After picking apples in the orchard, we had lots of fun handling a variety of pumpkins. The children enjoyed comparing the shapes, sizes, and colours before choosing one pumpkin to take back to school. The garden centre staff were so friendly and welcoming, even letting the children keep the apples they had picked for free.
Using the apples they had picked, the children displayed great creativity by making apple pigs. I think you'll agree, they all look fab!
After our visit to the garden centre, we headed over to Chopwell Woods. The children had a brilliant time building dens and exploring the forest, working together to create some fantastic shelters. We also enjoyed a lovely woodland walk, spotting lots of interesting features along the way, including a giant hand sculpture.
As part of our 100% attendance initiative, the children were treated to a reward, a film afternoon with popcorn! They had a fantastic time relaxing together and celebrating their achievement. Well done Year 2.
