Temple City Park Playground Renovation Project

The playground renovation project has begun at Temple City Park. The project will encompass a brand new playground, landscape buffer and refresh of the picnic shelter. The playground Bamboo Forest theme was selected as a complimentary design specifically for Temple City Park, to blend with the existing structures and evoke feelings of calm and nature. In addition to the playground area, a landscape buffer is included in the design to provide a visual and physical separation to the north parking lot.

The main playground structure incorporates a net climber, slide, spinner and overhead climber. Swings and sensory panels are included in the project with a custom designed safety surfacing complementing the theme. Included in the renovation project for Temple City Park is a refresh of the playground adjacent picnic shelter. The picnic shelter refresh includes “Thunder Brown” support posts, “Mountain Forest” shade covering and updated LED lighting. The color selection for the picnic shelter is meant to compliment the nature inspired playground as well as the natural park environment. For more information on the project, please visit https://www.ci.temple-city.ca.us/1416/Temple-City-and-Live-Oak-Park-Playground.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

City Council Takes Action on Preventing Homelessness

On Tuesday, April 2, the City Council started a $285,000 program to help Temple City families at risk of homelessness. The program, to be administered by Family Promise of the San Gabriel Valley, will provide rental and move-in assistance. The goal of the program is to help families achieve stability and self-sufficiency. To accomplish this, families will be assigned case managers who will provide support and guidance related to finances and employment. Assistance will be temporary, lasting six months. The program is expected to begin in June. Please contact Family Promise of the San Gabriel Valley at 626-569-0991 if you would like to apply for assistance.

The program is funded through the Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) funds. In 2017, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 2, establishing a $75 recording fee on real estate documents to fund PLHA.
