Welcome Dustdevils!

Monday, February 23, 2025

Hey Dustdevils,

  • We hope you enjoyed this weekend’s Washington Birthday Celebration festivities, especially this year’s TAMIU parade float. Our thanks and appreciation to our student volunteers and staff members for their work in bringing some Dustdevil spirit to this year’s Anheuser-Busch Washington's Birthday Parade.
  • Texas A&M University System Chancellor Glenn Hegar and his wife traveled to Laredo on Saturday to attend the Mr. South Texas luncheon. This was Chancellor Hegar’s second visit to Laredo this academic year, which demonstrates the strong support that we enjoy from the System. He visited with TAMIU student government leaders and was presented a TAMIU tie. As he was leaving, he noted to me how impressed he always is with our TAMIU students. I agree!
  • Last week, we celebrated the opening of “Confluence,” an exhibition of artwork by TAMIU faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences. If you have not stopped by, take some time to view the work of our talented faculty on display through April 17 at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery, located on the 2nd floor.
  • We’re excited to welcome high school seniors and their families to Preview Day, a day-long open house event where prospective Dustdevils learn more about the University’s student service, important deadlines, on-campus housing and campus traditions. If you know of an incoming Dustdevil who wants to learn more about TAMIU, invite them to register for the event at https://go.tamiu.edu/previewday-signup.
