Lochfield Primary December 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to our December newsletter. We hope you enjoy seeing all the festive fun that has been happening on the run up to the Christmas Break.

Infant Nativity

An annual highlight of the festive period is our infant nativity. Our Primary 2s shone brightly in their roles and did incredibly well to learn their lines, the songs and everything that goes with putting on a performance such as this. Our Primary 1s were fantastic as the chorus and sang beautifully. Well done to all the Primary 1 and Primary 2 children and sincere thanks to the class teachers and support staff for working their magic and bringing it all together.

Christmas Concert

We made a bit of a change to the Christmas Concert this year, choosing to host this in the school. This meant three performances across the two days and the children really did rise to the occasion. The audience were treated to a mix of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs, as well as a musical performance from our strings musicians. Thank you to our families for coming along to support and sing-a-long with the children, they were fantastic.

Christmas Parties

This week the children have been enjoying their Christmas parties. There has been lots of festive fun and games throughout the week, with singing, dancing and party games.

Christmas Lunch

We enjoyed our Christmas lunch on Wednesday the 10th of December. Turkey or beef and all the trimmings as well as some Christmas music to add to the festive cheer. Take a look at some of the photos from the afternoon.

Festive Enterprise

Our Christmas Enterprise project has become a regular feature at this time of year. The children worked hard to design and create products and experiences that they would then sell and offer during our Enterprise event. The children developed a range of skills linked to numeracy, business and of course teamwork. There was certainly plenty of entrepreneurial spirit when it came to selling their products. Each class made a profit and now have the opportunity to choose what they spend their money on.

Parent Council Fundraising

Once again The Parent Council organised and ran the very popular Rainbow Raffle.  We  would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who generously donated prizes and to the Parent Council for their hard work in organising the event. A total of £1,092 was raised. We greatly appreciate the continued support shown by our families and wider school community throughout the year.

Buddy Beats Music Education

Children in Primary 3, Primary 4 and Primary 5 have been working with 'Buddy Beats' on a weekly basis. They have been working hard in their music sessions, developing a range of musical skills including rhythm, pitch, listening, and performance techniques. They’ve been learning to play and sing together, building teamwork, confidence, and creativity along the way. Last week the Primary 3s, 4s and 5s all had an opportunity to perform and showcase their learning to the other classes. The children have thoroughly enjoyed this experience!

Pupil Leadership

Now that we have all the photo permissions, we thought it would be good to introduce some of our pupil leadership groups to you all. We did announce this in a previous newsletter but it is great to share these with you along with the photographs of the groups

We are passionate about giving the children opportunities to develop leadership skills and take the lead with our continuous drive to improve our school. We are delighted to introduce some of our Pupil Leadership groups this session.

Free School Meals and Clothing Grants

As a continuing reminder, please avoid parking in Quarry Road during drop off and pick up times. We have seen a huge change for the better when people don’t park there. It is much safer for our children and you just can’t argue with ensuring children’s safety.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support this year. I hope that you and your family are able to take time to rest and relax over the Christmas break and we look forward to welcoming the children back in the New Year. Merry Christmas.
