Clearing The Path For Reliability

Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) prioritizes the clearance of power lines through our vegetation management program by right-of-way (ROW) tree trimming. The primary objective of our vegetation management program is to deliver uninterrupted power to our members. This program has three main benefits for co-op members.

Safety. Vegetation and trees that encroach upon power lines pose a significant risk. Not only can they cause power outages, but also have the potential to endanger lives and property. By diligently trimming trees within the ROW, we minimize the likelihood of these hazards, creating a safer environment for everyone.

Reliability. Strategic tree trimming significantly reduces the frequency of downed power lines and subsequent outages, thus improving the overall reliability of our power supply. Unpredictable weather events like storms and high winds can wreak havoc on power lines. However, by implementing an effective vegetation management program, we are better equipped to prevent such incidents, enhancing the grid's dependability.

Affordability. Our commitment to affordable electricity extends to our approach to vegetation management. Proactive vegetation management efforts are proven more efficient and less costly than reactive measures to invasive vegetation, ultimately resulting in affordable energy rates.

CGEMC's commitment to right-of-way tree trimming ensures safety, reliability, and affordability. By embracing proactive vegetation management, the cooperative strengthens the resilience of power lines, fortifying the grid against adverse weather events, and contributing to the overall security of the electrical infrastructure.

2024 Residential Rebates

Is it time for an upgrade? Save energy and money with CGEMC's 2024 rebates!

Nearly half of energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. Upgrading an outdated or aging system can save you money. If your unit is more than 10 years old and needs frequent repairs, it may be time to replace it.

Water heaters use more energy than your refrigerator, clothes washer, dishwasher, and dryer combined. Upgrading your water heater can save you hundreds of dollars yearly on energy costs. Visit www.cgemc.com for details.

*A load management switch must be installed on qualifying equipment by a Central Georgia EMC employee before the rebate can be processed. The load management switch must remain on equipment and in operating status as long as Central Georgia EMC has a load management program. Limit one (1) qualifying heat pump and/or one (1) qualifying water heater rebate per member/household. Heat pump and/or water heater must have been installed on or after January 1, 2024.

Renewable Energy From Natural Resources

The Residential Clean Energy Credit, part of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, is a federal tax credit encouraging homeowners to invest in renewable energy for their homes, such as solar, wind, geothermal heat pumps, fuel cells, or cutting-edge battery storage technology.

The credit equals 30% of the costs of new, qualified, clean energy property for your home installed from 2022 through 2032. After 2032, the credit percentage will change to 26% for 2033 and 22% for 2034.

Curious about how this could work for you? Look no further than Central Georgia EMC. We are your partners in progress, ready to help you navigate the world of residential clean energy.

If rooftop solar is on your mind, visit our website at www.cgemc.com/rooftopsolar. Our self-guided solar calculator tool can unveil your solar generation potential, ongoing utility costs, and estimated payback period.
