New Gaze

Debut EP, 'Dystopian Days' available Now

New Gaze emerged from London's vibrant indie scene in 2024 as a band determined to blur the lines between past and present, melancholy and joy, introspection and celebration. The trio; Andrés Alcover (lead vocals, guitar), Julian Bayliss (piano, arrangements), and Rollo Ellison (vocals, guitar) craft music that feels both timelessly nostalgic and urgently contemporary.

Drawing inspiration from the landscapes of England and the Mediterranean warmth of Majorca, New Gaze create what they describe as "indie psychedelia with the warmth of folk." Their sound drifts effortlessly between dreamy atmospheres and grounded, groovy rhythms, always anchored by golden vocals that pour out with joyful abandon.

The band's breakthrough came with their debut EP Dystopian Days, a record that showcased their ability to explore weighty themes; love, heartbreak, mental health, hope with a fresh, effortless grace. The release earned critical acclaim from CLASH, Atwood Magazine, and Under The Radar, with the latter praising their "dreamy waltz" and "ornate layers of strings."

Recorded across multiple locations including the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales, their music benefits from Julian's classical training and compositional skills. His string arrangements, performed by a 20-piece orchestra in Croatia, add cinematic scope to the band's intimate core sound.

Their live performances capture the same ethereal quality as their recordings, with voices that soar effortlessly and an onstage chemistry that speaks to deep musical understanding. Recent performances have included festival appearances and intimate venue shows that have built a devoted following.

With their debut album arriving September 26th, 2025 via Black Orange, New Gaze stand poised to establish themselves as one of the UK's most compelling new artists who understand that the most profound healing often comes wrapped in the most beautiful melodies.

“Dystopian Days” finds the band locked in a dreamy waltz, with the trio’s vocals dancing amongst winding piano lines and lithe rhythms. Later the band dresses their vocals with ornate layers of strings before stripping the track back to only intimate acoustic tones, transitioning into shadowy territory in the track’s closing moments.

London-based trio New Gaze announce the release of their highly anticipated debut album on September 26th, 2025 via Black Orange. The album marks the culmination of a remarkable journey that began with their sun-kissed debut EP Dystopian Days, which garnered critical acclaim from CLASH, Atwood Magazine, and Under The Radar.

Blending indie psychedelia with the warmth of folk, New Gaze, Andrés Alcover (lead vocals, guitar), Julian Bayliss (piano, arrangements), and Rollo Ellison (vocals, guitar) create music that drifts effortlessly between the landscapes of England and the sunlit shores of Majorca, carried on grooving rhythms and golden vocals.

The album's focus track 'Heal Me', available September 26th, represents the band at their most vulnerable and transcendent. Building from intimate acoustic beginnings, the song blossoms into a cathartic anthem of recovery and self acceptance. Alcover's vocals soar over Julian's intricate piano arrangements while layered harmonies create an almost hymnal quality, a sonic balm for fractured souls seeking wholeness.

"'Heal Me' came from a place of complete honesty," explains Alcover. "It's about that moment when you stop running from your pain and start walking toward healing. The song acknowledges the darkness but refuses to live there."

The track exemplifies New Gaze's gift for transforming weighty themes into something luminous and life-affirming. Like much of their work, it's reminiscent of 70s psychedelia yet undeniably fresh—a vibrant melting pot of emotion steeped in vintage tones but speaking directly to contemporary hearts.

Recorded and mixed across Rockfield Studios in Wales, Bath, and Croatia with producer Bruno Ellingham, the album showcases the band's expanding sonic palette. Julian's string arrangements, brought to life by a 20-piece orchestra in Croatia, add cinematic depth to their already rich sound world.

Following breakthrough singles 'All We Can See' and 'Dystopian Days', New Gaze have established themselves as one of London's most promising new voices. Their music explores themes of love, heartbreak, hope, and healing through rich harmonies, folky guitars, warm basslines, and shimmering synths, creating what critics have called "a melodic reverie" and "sun-soaked, love-soaked" brilliance.

The debut album promises to be their most cohesive and ambitious statement yet, with 'Heal Me' standing as both the emotional centerpiece and the clearest distillation of their unique vision.

New Gaze debut album available September 26th, 2025 via Black Orange.
