Dear Bluejay Family, In today’s Gospel, we hear the powerful story of Jesus calling His first disciples. Peter, Andrew, James, and John immediately leave what is familiar to follow Him into something new. Their response reminds us that faith often asks us to trust, to be flexible, and to step forward even when the path is uncertain. Please note that there will be no school tomorrow due to winter weather. While disruptions to routine are never ideal, they give us an opportunity to slow down, care for one another, and remember that God walks with us through every change—both planned and unexpected. As of today, we plan to return to school on Tuesday. We will continue to monitor conditions and will notify families through our usual communication channels should that plan change. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support. May we all use this time to rest, stay safe, and listen for where God is calling us next. Grace & Peace, Erin B. Henry Principal

important reminders for all familes
- Use the horseshoe in car line. Don't skip it, you never know when someone is waiting just around the corner and you are cutting them off.
- Keep the left lane of carline clear. Thank you to those who continue to wait at the corner stop sign on Railroad Avenue. This allows our faculty and staff time to park before carline begins. Once duty teachers come out, they will wave you forward. Please do not pull up into the left lane before carline begins.
- Take a right when exiting car line onto Main Street. If the crossing guard is present, left turns are not allowed.
- Pay your lunch bill. We are thrilled to see more students enjoying a hot lunch now that our cafeteria is re-opened, but there is also over $4,000 in lunch debt. Please check your balance and make payments here.

Baby Shower service project
Friday is our annual baby shower for the Desormeaux Foundation. All classes will visit the shower to hear about the work the Foundation does, get a snack, play a shower game, and drop off their donation. Please help us help this worthy organization by sending a monetary or baby supply donation. Most needed items are diapers (all sizes), wipes, bibs, blankets, and bottles. (If sending a check donation, please make payable to Desormeaux Foundation.)
Costume Help Needed
Live Nativity is growing and we are in need of more costumes! The costumes would not be needed until September 2026, allowing plenty of time for planning and sewing. We already have patterns and some materials available. If additional materials are needed, a member of the Religion Department will be happy to purchase them. If you (or someone you know) are interested in helping us create angel or other Live Nativity costumes, please contact Dawn Gary at dgary@scsbluejays.org. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your gifts and contribute to a meaningful tradition that brings our faith to the life for our students and community. Thank you for considering this opportunity to serve!
3rd-5th Grade Retreat
All 3rd-5th graders are invited to join us at the “Called & Chosen: God Knows My Name” retreat. This special day is designed to help children grow in their understanding that God made them on purpose, loves them deeply, and calls them to follow Him every day. Throughout the retreat, students will participate in fun icebreakers, student-led talks from our St. Cecilia Campus Ministry team, small group discussions, and hands-on activity stations focused on identity, saints, prayer, and living out God’s call.
The retreat will take place on Saturday, February 28 from 10:00am–3:00pm in the One Heart Building. Students are encouraged to dress comfy and casual, and lunch and snacks will be provided.
SIGN UP HERE! Deadline for registration is Monday, February 2.

HIS HOUSE
Our first HIS HOUSE Assembly will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026. Your child should be receiving information directly from his/her house about the “One Fish, Two Fish” theme and dress options. We encourage everyone to participate and show some spirit for their beloved house. Remember: Students are encouraged to wear house colored shirts with uniform bottoms. Any accessories or costume pieces should be added before the assembly and not worn to school and should relate to the theme. Due to the nature of the assembly and the need for space, please be reminded that the assembly is reserved for student body, faculty, and staff attendance only.

Letter From the Athletic Director
We are coming off an exciting week of athletics! Our basketball teams had a strong showing with many great wins, both at home and on the road. Congratulations to our student-athletes and coaches on an outstanding week of competition. Last week also marked the conclusion of our soccer season. We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship shown by our soccer players throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who supported the team this season. Looking ahead to this week, all practices at the Broussard Sports Complex are canceled through Wednesday due to weather conditions. Despite this brief pause, we are excited to jumpstart Baseball and Softball this week, with the rest of our spring sports getting underway soon. Basketball action continues at home on Wednesday and Thursday, and we encourage everyone to come out and support our Blue Jays. Wednesday night will be especially special as we host 8th Grade Night for both our boys’ and girls’ 8th grade basketball players. Join us as we celebrate these student-athletes and their contributions to our program. We are looking forward to another great week of sports and school spirit. Thank you for your continued support. Geaux Blue Jays! Athletic Director - Payton Tobey
STREAM LAB REQUESTS: We no longer need donations of tissue boxes, shoe boxes, and Hillshire Farm containers and lids. Our stash for those supplies is good! Thank you! 😊
