Welcome
Welcome to Our Savior Hawaii's Online Sunday School! Today, is the last Sunday before we enter into the season of Lent. It's called Transfiguration Sunday. Transfiguration is a big word that means change. In our story, Jesus' appearance is changed. He is transfigured, and we see that He is 100% God and 100% man. We'll discover the extraordinary glory of our God, Jesus.

Scripture
Mark 9:2-13 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant. And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?” Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected? But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”

God revealed who Jesus was on that mountaintop long ago. Jesus’ identity is both completely human (ordinary) and completely God (extraordinary). God said about Jesus, “You are my beloved Son.” We can be happy and rejoice because each one of us is also a beloved child of God. Celebrate His extraordinary love for us with one or all of these activities:
- Put together a puzzle. All the little pieces make one big picture. Today, we see the big picture of who Jesus is--humble and human and full of glory and God.
- It's the last Sunday before Lent. Make "Alleluia" banners and hide them until Easter.
- Make these Lenten Words cards to prepare for the Lenten season beginning on Wednesday.
Pray + Bless
Pray: Dear Jesus, Thank you for all you are! We praise you for coming to earth in such an ordinary way and for all the extraordinary ways you show us your love. Through the cross and empty grave, you bring us joy for everyday. Amen.
Make the sign of the cross on the forehead of each person in your family and say, "Jesus' love for you is extraordinary."
