Principal's Message

As we conclude the first month of the school year and embrace the delightful autumn weather, we are excited about the activities and events on the horizon, particularly our traditional homecoming activities. As we eagerly anticipate these upcoming engagements, we encourage you to stay engaged with our school community. Whether it's through volunteering, participating in athletic events, or joining the commencement of our various clubs and activities, your support and the connections we forge are truly valued.

PSAT

The PSAT will be administered at Conrad on Wednesday, October 26th to our 11th Graders during the school day. We encourage students to get a good night of sleep and start the morning with a nice breakfast.

Spirit Week

Spirit Week was a fun week for all. The week's events included: Match Up Monday (Sports Mom vs BBQ Dad); Turn Back Time Tuesday (decades); We're Going to the Movies Wednesday (Barbie vs. Oppenheimer); Thursday Color Wars (Seniors black, Juniors Orange, Sophomores Green, Freshman Blue, 8th grade Purple, 7th grade Pink, 6th grade Yellow).

Conrad Food Drive 10/14-20

Conrad's annual food drive to support our local food pantry starts tomorrow, 10/14 and runs through Friday 10/20. Items can be dropped off at the Homecoming Parade or Game or at school the week of 10/16.

High School Career Pathways will be competing for the coveted "Golden Can Award" (9th grade, please contribute to the pathway you will most likely select next year). Middle Schoolers will drop off cans to their science teachers.

Anyone who donates 10 or more items in a day will be given a raffle ticket for the prize of the day. If we reach our goal of 4000 items, students and staff will be rewarded with three dress down days the week of Thanksgiving.

Hispanic Heritage Month

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we would like to acknowledge the leadership of Conrad students Emily Rodriguez, Joyce Sosa Marcano, Savannah Manley, Natalie Ortiz, Samantha Cuba Guzman, and Lady Fuentes Rojas. These students served on the planning committee for Delaware's first annual Latinos Unidos Student Summit. The event held on September 16th was created by students for students to amplify student voices in Delaware. It was an amazing day filled with music, dancing, motivational speakers and community. These impressive leaders represented our school well with their hard work and dedication. Emily Rodriguez was recognized as an MVP volunteer and received a gift card in appreciation.

Free Internet Service for Students

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal program to help eligible households pay for internet service, by providing a discount up to $30 per month. Most internet service providers, including Comcast and Verizon, offer internet service plans for $30.

Families qualify if one member of their household meets at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year
  2. Participates in one of these assistance programs
  • Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program
  • SNAP
  • Medicaid
  • Federal Housing Assistance
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • WIC
  • Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits
  • Lifeline

Our next PTO Meeting is Thursday, November 9th at 7:00 in the Library.

Jostens came to Conrad On Wednesday, September 20th to discuss Graduation Materials, including Save the Dates, Invitations, Cap and Gowns, and other traditional materials. The students brought home information for families to explore together.

Teacher of the Year

Ms. Katrina Fontinha was recognized as Conrad Schools of Science Teacher of the Year at a district ceremony this week. Ms. Fontinha works tirelessly to provide hands on experiences for her animal science students and keep all of our animal friends safe and happy. Thank you for all you do, Ms. Fontinha!

Conrad Schools of Science has an On-Site Wellness Center which is staffed with a Family Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority, a Registered Dietician, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. EntreX Students attend Delaware Connect Event

On Wednesday, October 11th, the students in Conrad’s UD EntreX course attended the Delaware Connect Event to meet with other students from Delaware and surrounding states. They participating in a Design Sprint to help solve a problem presented by Del-One Federal Credit Union. Sophia Freeman and David Cooper took leadership roles in their groups, with David Cooper’s team winning the Design Sprint with the best idea out of the 10 teams, walking away with $500 in prize money!

Conrad has a Broadcasting Team that helps promote the events taking place in our classrooms, hallways, and on campus! Our student-led team create timely content that keeps our community informed and entertained! Check out this week's video of our Spirit Week.

Fall Sports

Conard Fall Sports are going strong as we move in the latter part of the season. All team are still battling for possible state tournament berths. THANKS to the Conrad RED ZONE for always supporting our teams! A reminder thatthe ACTIVITY BUSES depart school at 4:45 each day. Winter Sports Start- HS 11/6 and MS 11/13

  • HS Volleyball- (5-4). Big games this week with DSAC opponents. Join us on 10/20 celebrate Senior Rec Night.
  • HS Soccer- (6-2). Big win vs. DMA and Red Lion. Next home game is 10/17.
  • Field Hockey- (2-7-1). Pink Out on 10/19 and Senior Rec on 10/26.
  • Football- (2-3). All conference games left as they push to make the post season. Home Night Game on 11/3
  • Cross Country- Joe O’Neil Invitational on 10/17 and DSAC Championships on 10/24.
  • Cheerleading- Thank you cheer for leading both MS and HS pep rallies this week.

Middle School Sports

  • MS Soccer- (3-4). Beat Skyline this week 4-3.
  • MS Field Hockey- (0-3). Lost 2 close games to BSS.
  • MS Cross Country- (2-3). Huge wins over BSS and Skyline.
  • MS Volleyball- (4-2). Big win over Odyssey Charter this week.
  • MS Football- Thanks for supporting our Varsity Program. See you at the Homecoming Game!

Homecoming Weekend

This year's Homecoming game will take place tomorrow (Saturday, October 14th). We will start the day with our homecoming parade at 9:30am. Conrad Hall of Fame induction will be at 10:30. Game kickoff is 11am. Make sure to stay to enjoy a half-time performance by our marching band and the announcement of our homecoming court. The homecoming dance will be held from 7-10pm in the gym.

Sports Boosters

The Conrad Sports Boosters is an organization comprised of Parents, Coaches, and the Athletics Department. They meet once a month to discuss and organize support for all of our Middle and High School Athletics Programs. We encourage anyone to come out and take part in the conversation to support our student athletes.

The next meeting will be Thursday, October 19th at 6:30 in the Library.

We also encourage you to use the apps of communication for your respective team as coaches will often communicate updates through those services.

Alumni Craft Show

This year's Alumni Craft Show is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. We are pleased to announce that we are SOLD OUT of vendor spaces. Many returning favorites as well as new vendors will be on display with unique items to get your holiday shopping started! (Or maybe just a little something for YOU!!) Acme Pharmacy will offer a vaccine clinic (bring your insurance card!), food, including Connie's famous Sloppy Joe's, will be available. Get a ticket for a door prize just for stopping by!! Conrad Alumni merchandise will be available as well as Conrad Schools of Science spirit wear! Stop by the FFA table for some fresh eggs and goat milk products!
