GET TO KNOW GETTYSBURG COLLEGE
A TOP 50 NATIONAL LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE
Gettysburg is a national college of liberal arts and sciences located in the world-famous town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Our campus has a traditional campus feel with historical ties. Founded in 1832, the College upholds a rigorous commitment to the liberal arts in all their breadth and depth. Combined with experiential learning and a drive to Do Great Work, there are no bystanders here. When you study at Gettysburg, you’re participating in traditions predating even the iconic battle that gave the town its notoriety and historical significance. Before the Civil War and thereafter, the college has stood as a beacon of intellectualism and socially responsible citizenship.
A Consequential Education is one that guides students to gain greater insight into themselves, their passions, and their aspirations to leave the world better than they found it.
From our unique sense of place that grounds us in the enduring charge of President Abraham Lincoln, to our hardworking students, faculty, and staff who are innately inspired to Do Great Work, and our experiential approach to learning, we believe in the lasting impact of a Gettysburg College education. It is in each member of our community that A Consequential Education shines every day—in their hearts and through the great work they do—from Gettysburg onward.
It begins on day one. During Convocation, our first-year students walk through the College’s historic Pennsylvania Hall and are embraced as integral parts of this special community. Four years later, during Commencement, these same students walk back through these hallowed halls as graduates, proudly carrying their consequential education with them—and it stays with them.
This sense of place, the close-knit community, and the experiences gained at Gettysburg forever remain interwoven in the fabric of a Gettysburgian.
The Gettysburg Approach

BUSINESS, ORGANIZATIONS AND MANAGEMENT MAJOR
The Business, Organizations, and Management major offers a dynamic interpretation of business, management, and organizations by utilizing a critical management perspective to better understand their relationship with contemporary society. Although the fundamentals of business and management are still relevant, the ever-changing environment of business, globalization, and the impact on society requires a more fluid and analytical understanding. The Department of Management encourages students to use the skills and knowledge they will gain to analyze contemporary issues in a critical manner that is unfettered by traditional frameworks. Workers, communities, and social justice are given equal consideration with profit and shareholder returns.
THE CENTER FOR CAREER ENGAGEMENT
We work with every student, from their first year to their senior year, to connect their experiences with a personalized career plan.
An important step in this process is connecting our students with internship, externship, and job shadowing opportunities. Students can apply what they are learning in the classroom to real-life situations and discover new ways to achieve the unexpected. 80% of our students do an internship during their 4 years at Gettysburg.
Our alumni network is 30,000+ strong and working in almost every industry across six continents. Gettysburgians can go anywhere and do anything with the confidence and experience knowing that the network is there for them when they need it. 98% of Gettysburg graduates are employed or attending graduate school within a year after graduation.
