Dear University Community,
Our Final Exams draw to an end today...here’s wishing everyone success.
- Today begins National Nurses Week May 6 – 12 and we want to recognize our nursing faculty members in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, our Student Health nurses...and all our undergraduate, graduate nursing students and alumni. Nursing is a call to service, a chance to help others heal and stay healthy, and a special way to make our world measurably better. Cheers to our TAMIU Nurses!
- Three students in the University's Sociology graduate program presented at national conferences this semester. Ashley Grajeda presented published research coauthored with TAMIU faculty members Dr. Virginia Berndt and Dr. Pamela Neumann at the Eastern Sociological Society Conference in Washington, D.C. Hannah Frey and Angelica López presented original research on social media use in disaster context at the prestigious 60th Anniversary Workshop of the Disaster Research Center at the University of Delaware.
- Thursday will see our 2024 Commencement Exercises at the Sames Auto Arena. To all our candidates for graduation, we’re looking forward to seeing you shine. We encourage all TAMIU students to attend and help to celebrate the milestones that are ahead for them too. Share in the tradition and celebration with us as we welcome the largest Spring graduating class in the University’s history.
- Graduates, friends, families, and loved ones can also share Commencement photos on social media using the hashtag, #TAMIUGrad, or tagging the University’s social media account @txamiu. Before and during the Commencement ceremonies, University-affiliated social media accounts will feature social media posts and photos using the official hashtag.
- Graduates and families can also share a special message and photo as part of the University’s popular ‘Congrats Grads’ campaign. Individuals submit their photos and messages at https://go.tamiu.edu/congratsgrads. It is recommended that graduates and friends follow and like social media accounts on Facebook (www.facebook.com/txamiu), Twitter (www.twitter.com/txamiu), and Instagram (www.instagram.com/txamiu) to view featured congratulatory Commencement posts.
- What are you doing after graduation? Nereyda Molina, a senior Biology major and Spring 2024 graduate will begin her Master’s degree in Biostatistics at the University of Iowa this Fall. Read about her motivational journey at TAMIU and beyond.
- The future at TAMIU is getting brighter every day. We’re forging ahead with two new degree programs in clinical lab sciences and physical therapy, with a special offer for students forming the first cohorts. Here’s more.
- Mark your calendar for our annual Celebration of Life, coming Tuesday, May 21 from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the CFPA Recital Hall. This traditional observation sees the University come together to remember those no longer with us, to celebrate their lives, and to move forward together.
- Registration for Maymester, Summer, and Fall is now underway. See the registration schedule and learn more by visiting here.
