Council Meeting

The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

Youth Committee Recruitment

Applicants will be interviewed and appointed in July to fill 6 seats on the Youth Committee. Committee members will be meeting in July and August for orientation workshops.

PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Temple City Park Playground Now Open!

The brand new, Temple City Park playground is now open! The bamboo forest themed playground features a main climbing structure, two slides, overhead climber, spinners, sensory play panels and swings. In addition, a new landscape buffer was added to the north, new LED lighting, and the adjacent picnic shelter has been refreshed. Come check out the latest playground amenity in Temple City!

Concerts in the Park

Temple City has hosted free concerts each summer for over 24 years. The concert series will run for ten weeks, from June through August. Concerts will take place at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Dr., from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Join us as we celebrate the sounds of the summer! As a reminder canopies and umbrellas are not allowed in the concert area out of courtesy for other concert-goers. Food can be brought in, however, food and drinks will be available for purchase on-site for the concert series. For more detailed information please visit www.templecity.us/concerts.

Camp-A-Palooza

Camp-A-Palooza is an overnight family camping experience on Friday, July 19 – Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Live Oak Park. Bring your own tent, sleeping bags, and family, and we'll do the rest. Enjoy arts and crafts, inflatables, obstacle courses, a movie, and more! The cost includes a 20' x 20' camp space, dinner, and continental breakfast. Camp setup begins Friday at 2:30 p.m., with some activities beginning at 4 p.m. Each family must have an adult 18 years of age or over present at all times. Registration begins Saturday, June 22nd, in-person only at Live Oak Park Community Center beginning at 10:00 a.m. Register early, as this event sells out! Community Development Department

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its monthly report for June 2024.

Building permit valuation in June 2024 was 28% lower than June 2023. Fees collected in June 2024 were also lower than June 2023. 149 permits were issued in June 2024, which was 18% lower than June 2023. The significant permits issued in June were for two, new single-family dwellings and three accessory dwelling units.

Planning received 16 new applications in June 2024, which included 12 ADUs, 2 new single-family houses, 3 house additions, tenant improvements for a commercial building, and a tentative parcel map to subdivide a single-family property.

Five business licenses were issued in June 2024, including a travel agency, real estate office, two retail establishments, and a food truck.

Community Preservation continued to be active in June 2024. The number of cases opened in June 2024 were 17% lower than June 2023. 67% of the cases opened in June were initiated by the inspector, with 26% initiated by the public.
