About the research
Who will conduct the research?
The research is a collaboration between a group of academic researchers from across the UK, US and France

What is the purpose of the research?
We are interested in finding out about the small things that people do to make themselves feel uplifted or relaxed. These might be things that happen daily, or they might be planned and happen less regularly.
We will use the stories people share with us to develop a series of illustrated ‘prompt cards’. These cards can be used in a range of settings to facilitate discussion about the small things that people can integrate into their lives to help them feel positive emotions (e.g. these moments/activities may help them feel happy, supported, uplifted or connected).
Who has reviewed the research project?
The project has been reviewed by The University of Manchester Proportionate Research Ethics Committee.
Who is funding the research project?
This project is funded by the Association for Consumer Research and Transformative Consumer Research donors
What would my involvement be?
You would contribute a short piece of writing/story where you outline everyday moments or activities in your life. You can also tell us a bit more about yourself, if you wish, but any contributions will be anonymous.
How long this takes depends on how much you choose to write, so it may take just five minutes or longer.
We will not collect any other information and will not collect your IP address.
What happens if I do not want to take part or if I change my mind?
It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you do decide to take part you will be asked to click a button to confirm consent. If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason and without detriment to yourself up until the point that you submit your story. It will not be possible to remove your data from the project once you have submitted your story as they are collected anonymously and we will not be able to identify your story. This does not affect your data protection rights. If you decide not to take part you do not need to do anything further.
For detailed information about how we plan to use and store the information that you share with us, please read our data protection and confidentiality page.
