All Rogers Bands Sweep 1st divisions at UIL

We did it!! Symphonic Winds joined CBII and CBI in earning 1st division superior ratings from every judge on stage and in sight-reading. Rogers is one of the few schools to sweep the ratings with 3 performing bands.

Please congratulate all of the students for their OUTSTANDING performances!

The Spring is always a busy time for music with many contests and festivals to participate in. While more information will be coming out as we are closer to the actual dates, we wanted to keep you in the loop of what is ahead! Times listed are scheduled times when each band performs.

Symphonic Winds:

• April 10th - Dallas Winds Invitational – Meyerson Concert Hall Dallas 1:50pm
• April 24th - North Texas Festival of Distinction @ Haltom HS 1:15pm
• April 30th - Honor Band Concert w/ Rushing MS 10:00am
• May 7th - Beginner Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm
• May 9th - SW/CBI/CBII Spring Concert @ WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm

Concert Band I:

Concert Band II:

Beginning Band:

• May 6th - Beginning Band Afterschool Rehearsal 3:30-4:45pm

• May 12th - Spring Band Competition - WGHS - The Cove Little Elm 9:30am

Jazz Band:

• May 7th - Beginning/Jazz Band Spring Concert @WGHS Auditorium 6:30pm
• May 12th - Jazz Band/Beginning Band Festival – WGHS and The Cove 9:30am

Beginner 4th 9-weeks Project

All of our beginners are starting to work on their BIG 4th 9-weeks pass-off project. They are working to pass-off major scales and also lines out of the book. With each scale passed off, they will receive a different colored bead to display how far they are getting. We will also keep track with a sticker/pass-off chart. This a great project that students can move at their own pace.

Rogers Band Solo Contest

The Rogers Solo Contest is coming up on the evening of Thursday, April 17th! This is an event for students who have prepared a solo either in their private lessons or in their band class. Performance times will be around 6-7 minutes long and range between 5:00PM at 7:30PM. Individual times will be assigned to each student as we get closer to the event.

Prosper ISD Middle School Summer Band Camp

Our Prosper ISD Band Camp will be June 2nd through June 6th at Walnut Grove High School. This camp is open to current 6th and 7th grade band students. (Students must have previously been in band in order to participate.)

Students will enjoy a week of rehearsals with a guest clinician, meeting new friends from other middle schools, participate in daily games, dress up days, receive a camp shirt, enjoy daily snacks, perform in a concert on Friday and take a trip to Pinstack to celebrate!
