Tritons Drop First Home Contest to Tars
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's basketball team dropped its first home game of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Rollins College Tars outlasted the Tritons by a score of 67-56 at the McArthur Center.
After two and a half minutes of scoreless action, the Tars picked up the pace with a 7-0 run. Back-to-back threes by Hannah Wentworth shrunk Eckerd's deficit back to one. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the frame, with Rollins holding the 15-13 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. Chance Bucher was first to answer in the second quarter to bring the score back to even, 15-15. The teams swapped baskets as the Tars squeaked out a two-point favor at the half, leading 30-28.
Eckerd and Rollins traded leads in the early part of the second half when a pair of free throws by Ieva Korzane gave Eckerd its first three-point lead. Eckerd led heading into the final period, 42-41. Rollins jumped out to an 11-point favor in the fourth quarter, going on a 16-4 run over the opening five minutes of the frame. Eckerd tried to pull itself out of the hole, cutting its deficit to seven late, but was unable to complete the comeback, falling 67-56

She averages 7.5 rebounds and 12.9 points per game, while shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc. Earlier this season, she recorded a career-high 25 points against Illinois Springfield at the Century Retail Classic hosted by Florida Southern. She recorded double-double's in back-to-back contests at the Classic. Green joins the Tritons after playing at Midland College and St. Francis Brooklyn, where she appeared in 22 games with 11 starts at St. Francis.
