Y10 Fine Artists followed in the footsteps of their peers this week and embarked on their first trip of the year to Tate Modern and Borough Market. Students' focus for the trip was to create primary research and materials for the "Surfaces and Structure" project.
Students enjoyed exploring the artwork that Tate has to offer, gaining inspiration for their current project. Wandering through the exhibition spaces allowed students to find artists that an internet search may not produce. There was also plenty of opportunity to immerse themselves in the art, like this visual spectacle by Pipilotti Rist.
We braved the tourists and made our way from Tate to Borough Market to continue our odyssey of inspiration. Students set off on their next expedition to explore the busy labyrinth of stalls tucked in all spaces under the arches. Borough provides a fantastic location for some of London's best structures, both old and new. It's also excellent for spotting a patchwork of surfaces and textures. Students also sampled some of the culinary delights that the market has to offer, which also provided a learning opportunity of how they can price their artwork in the future!
Thank you to our year 10 students for your hard work on the trip and for being fantastic advocates for LPGS! Also thank you to Miss Salmon for helping on the trip and leading the way in terms of directions (we may still be there if it wasn't for her). I'm looking forward to seeing the fantastic work students will be producing from the trip and the inspiration it may provide for the future.
