December Newsletter CTE

Our Digital Media students wrapped up the year by completing their final projects, and preparing for a full slate of production in January. TitanTV had a new lighting system installed and students in Digital Media III are excited to begin training on the new system.

Sports Medicine Level 1 students are diving into the world of nutrition! This unit focuses on the importance of proper nutrition for both overall health and athletic performance. Students are learning how the right foods fuel the body, support recovery, and enhance energy, strength, and endurance. By understanding the connection between what we eat and how we perform, students are gaining knowledge that will help them make smarter choices both on and off the field. Our Sports Medicine Level 2 students are wrapping up their unit on ankle injuries, learning not only how to identify and rehabilitate them, but also how to prevent future injuries. Through hands-on practice, students are gaining real-world skills that are essential for keeping athletes safe. Next, the class will shift focus to knee injuries and evaluation techniques, building on their knowledge of the lower extremity and preparing them to assess, treat, and prevent injuries in a variety of athletic settings.

Year 1: Our Year 1 Discovery Academy students  just finished their 5 part marketing assignment where they.  To break up the project work & presentations, students displayed their creativity by designing & 3D printing christmas ornaments.  The assignment was to create 2 ornaments, one to keep and one to give away (or sell).  Students had a great time and many built more than 2 ornaments.  In the remaining weeks we will start on CTE Leadership lessons  to get us ready for our Leadership projects when we return. Year 2: When we returned from Thanksgiving break, we resumed our 3D printing lesson and activities.  Students are 3D printing, custom keychains and a picture frame to display their 3D design and printing skills.

As it was nearing the end of the semester, technical theater students were finishing up their latest projects and submitting them before the deadline. There isn't too much to report around this time, but there were a couple of concerts tech theater students were assisting in. Additionally, year 1 and 2 students ran a mask painting booth at the Winter Carnival that many families seemed to enjoy!

On December 15th the Hemet unified school district is sending elementary school and middle school teachers to Tahquitz for the construction students to teach the teachers on the safety and use of power tools. They will be demonstrating the compound miter saw, skill saw, multi tool, saber saw, hand saw, drill, impact, and a finish nail gun. The Construction program is looking to get the teachers excited about teaching construction and becoming partners with us to send future students to Tahquitz to further their education needs.
