"Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

What a lovely week in the sunshine! It has been a great to see the learners engaged in outside learning. I have spent time this week speaking to staff about the progress your children are making, which is lovely to see. Thanks to all those who supported Bingo on Wednesday night, £841.30 was raised. Big thanks to the PTA and staff who helped at the event. There are dates for the next half term at the bottom of our newsletter, please do take a look. Have a relaxing weekend!

A lovely week in Dosbarth Alwen, we have been learning about chickens - from their life cycle, to where they live, what they eat. We took a visit to the school farm and used our senses to describe what we could see, hear, smell & feel - "fluffy, stinky, soft & noisy" were some of the language used to describe the experience🤩 Reception have worked hard on their subtraction skills with a subtraction smash activity & nursery have been matching numerals to quantities. In our areas children have enjoyed making chicken coops, Easter crowns, matching patterned eggs, a numbered egg hunt & lots of outdoor play in the sunshine☀️

This week in Dosbarth Padarn we have been busy getting ready for our class assembly- we hope you enjoyed it 😊.  We have continued to explore money and making different amounts. We took the big floor coins outside and identified the values of the coins and put them in order.

We looked at what a bossy verb is and played ‘Simon says’ to give bossy commands to our friends.  This week in our class we have been watching tadpoles and learning about the life cycle of the frog 🐸. We love coming in every day and checking to see how they have changed. Let’s hope we don’t come in to little frogs jumping around the class one day 🤣.  In outdoor learning this week we are listing to the sounds we can hear and creating our own musical instruments to match the sounds we hear.

This week in Dosbarth Tegid, the children have been busy with lots of exciting learning across the curriculum. They enjoyed making their own bird feeders, thinking carefully about how to help wildlife as we move into the spring season. In maths, the class explored money, practising how to recognise coins and make different amounts in a variety of fun and practical ways. In literacy, they completed their final pieces of writing—fantastic information reports all about chicks—showing how much they have learned about structure, facts, and presentation. The children also listened to Vivaldi’s Spring, using the music to inspire their thinking. They shared thoughtful ideas about how it made them feel and identified signs of new life, linking beautifully to the changes we see around us at this time of year. A wonderful week of creativity, curiosity, and learning—well done, Dosbarth Tegid!

Dosbarth Brenig have continued their work on our environment and biodiversity exploring our attitudes toward our world. We've collated data as well as conducted experiments to test for acidity or alkaline levels in the soil using cabbage water!

Fabulous reports written this week on dragonflies in the UK, their habitats, diet and fun facts! In our final week we will explore wider uses of data, another focus invertebrate and continue work on our outdoor area!

The sunshine always makes a difference! We've developed our rugby skills as part of invasion games. We were also lucky to learn a few cooking tips from Miss Mountford in our forest cooking masterclass!

Dosbarth Gwynant have had another great week full of hard work! We have loved reading more of our class story, The White Giraffe, and the children have been getting really excited sharing their theories about what will happen towards the end of the book! We have used our growing knowledge of the white giraffe to start planning our newspaper articles, ready to write them next week. We have also learned explored food chains, biodiversity and interdependence between species by creating beautiful posters. In maths we have shown great resilience and perseverance to work on converting, adding and subtracting fractions. Myself and Mrs Hughes have been so blown away by the hard work demonstrated this week!

Our keen entrepreneurs began work on our finance project by defining our attitudes toward money.

We are embarking on a new financial skills project with our mentor Emma from Young Enterprise. Each class will start their own planting business. Really looking forward to branching out in our experiences and getting our project off the ground! Dosbarth Alwen - Lettuce Dosbarth Padarn - Carrots Dosbarth Tegid - Spring Onions Dosbarth Brenig - "Toms and Tatties" Dosbarth Gwynant - Peas Each class will have a £5 budget, nothing more can be spent in our competition! Winners will be decided in June on produce grown or profit made. They can upcycle or receive donations to make their business 'grow'. We'll post page updates on dojo. Diolch pawb!

Can Cook Well Fed
