Lotus in the Peak Sunday 30th June 2024

Lotus in the Peak 2024 takes place over the weekend of Friday 28th June to Sunday 30th June 2024 in the beautiful Peak District National Park. The best way to enjoy Lotus in the Peak is to make a long weekend of it and participate in all of the activities on offer, but if you can only manage one or two days (with Sunday's main event being the most obvious draw) then of course that is ok too!

The weekend starts on Friday 28th June from 6pm, with an informal Lotus meet and barbeque at the Devonshire Arms Market Place, Hartington, Buxton SK17 0AL, an old favourite of Lotus in the Peak.

Hartington is a charming village located in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is known for its picturesque stone cottages, historic buildings, and traditional pubs. The village is a popular destination for tourists and hikers who come to explore the stunning landscapes of the Peak District. There are also a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as cycling, rock climbing, and caving. Hartington is also famous for its local cheese-making industry, and visitors can sample and purchase a range of delicious cheeses from the village’s cheese shop.

On Saturday we will once again be running ‘Pootle in the Peak’, starting from Hartington at 10.30am. This is a guided run in your Lotus, taken at a gentle pace and using the quieter and hidden roads to explore and enjoy the sights and scenery of the area. The route will take us to a venue for a relaxed lunch. There is no charge for joining in with Pootle in the Peak but places are strictly limited. You cannot book this in the LitP store - please contact MLOC member Elisemadray to discuss securing a place!

If you are not on the Pootle in the Peak run then Saturday is a free day to do as you please. The Peak District is a very popular tourist destination so there is plenty to do and see. Take a walk through the glorious countryside and have a well-deserved pub lunch, or visit one of the many local tourist attractions such as Chatsworth House and Gardens, Bakewell with its lovely riverside walk, shops and cafes, Castleton and its show caves, Haddon Hall, Matlock Bath etc. If all this sounds a bit too energetic for you simply take your Lotus out for a drive and then a wash and polish ready for Sunday. Round off a perfect day at a pub meet with fellow Lotus owners.

On Sunday the main event begins with a choice of guided Lotus run through the beautiful and spectacular Peak District. There are three routes to choose from, with different start points and of different length. Routes are carefully designed with the benefit of local knowledge to make the most of the best roads that the Peak District has to offer. Cars are split up into small manageable groups of 10 or less cars, each group having its own group leader. An early morning start ensures that the roads are as clear as possible so that you can enjoy the drive without the nuisance of dawdling traffic. Once on the move a tried and tested run format means that you cannot lose your way and that you drive at your own comfortable pace.

All runs and groups converge for a sociable breakfast stop at Thornbridge Hall (near Bakewell) for breakfast* and an opportunity for a chat with Lotus friends. Lotus drivers not booked on a run are also welcome to join us.

After breakfast the cars set off together for the traditional Lotus in the Peak procession, making our way gently along the 12 mile route to the main event venue in the village of Bamford. With up to 200 cars expected it really will be something to see and to be a part of.

At Bamford the Lotus cars will be informally parked on the recreation ground around the club marquee and amongst the various trade and club stands.

Bamford is a picturesque historic village located in the very heart of the Hope Valley in the Peak District. Here we have been granted exclusive use of the recreation ground for the full day to park and display our Lotus cars and to enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.

There is plenty for all to see and do, there's our fabulous cars new and old , ‘Car of the Day’ competition, our high quality gourmet picnic lunch boxes*, presentations and the drawing of the famous Lotus in the Peak Raffle with some great prizes to be won.

To sum up a great day and a fantastic weekend with your Lotus, we look forward to you joining us for Lotus in the Peak 2024!
