SPUHLER "HAP" BASEBALL FIELD
Named in honor of the program's first head coach, Raymond H. "Hap" Spuhler Field has come to be known as one of the top collegiate baseball complexes in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
In 2002, Spuhler Field was recognized as the Baseball Field of the Year in the College/University Division by the Sports Turf Managers Association. Spuhler Field was recognized for a commitment to excellence in overall field quality, safety, playability and appearance. In 2000-01, the facility was ranked second in the nation in the Beam Clay College Baseball Diamond of the Year Awards after being ranked third in 1999-2000.
INDOOR ATHLETIC FIELDHOUSE
The Field House contains the coaches offices, baseball locker room, weight room, athletic training room, an indoor multi-purpose practice facility used by the baseball and other teams, and the Sports Performance Lab.
The Patriot Performance Lab
The Patriot Performance Lab (PPL) focuses on sports performance and athlete health as its primary mission. We assess and provide information in regard to, musculoskeletal strength and power, body composition, and overall physical conditioning. This information is used for program design and implementation in the areas of nutrition, training, and athletic health care, which can lead to reduction in the number of injuries and improved sport performance.
To advance knowledge of athlete health, sport performance, and sport science through promotion of collaborative research among colleagues of the Center for Sports Performance and George Mason University faculty.
To advance the treatment, care, and performance of the George Mason University athlete through an interdisciplinary, team-based approach which involves athletic training, sports nutrition, strength and conditioning, and sports science.
