THE JOB
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Finance Director supports Homes for Good’s mission by leading the Agency’s accounting and finance functions, including budgeting, planning and financial reporting activities.
WHO WE ARE
Homes for Good Housing Agency is the Public Housing Authority (PHA) for Lane County, Oregon. Our primary work is to help low-income community members with the logistics of affordable housing. At a higher level, we are neighbors united to get every Lane County resident who needs help into a home.
Our programs provide housing and rental assistance to over 5,000 households in Lane County through voucher-based subsidies and Agency-owned public, multi-family and affordable housing communities.
OUR CURRENT PRIORITIES
- Develop & update robust internal policies and internal controls procedures related to Finance Department operations.
- Optimize usage of newly implemented enterprise software.
- Lead the development of reporting on budget to actuals for the leadership team and Board of Commissioners.
- Identify career & professional development opportunities for the Finance team members.
- Collaborate with leaders and staff across all Agency functions to imbed diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into our budget process.
OUR FINANCE DEPARTMENT
In addition to the Finance Director, our Finance team consists of six highly skilled full time equivalent employees (FTE) including a Finance Manager, a Real Estate Accounting Administrator, a Senior Accounting Technician and three Accounting Technicians.
WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR THE TEAM
The Finance Director is the senior-most finance executive, serving as a key member of the executive leadership team. This role is responsible for setting the overall financial strategy, overseeing all finance related functions, and making critical financial decisions that impact the entire organization.
WHAT YOU'LL BE ENTRUSTED WITH:
- Providing strategic financial leadership
- Financial planning & analysis
- Implementing robust accounting procedures and internal controls
- Providing the executive leadership team & board of commissioners with financial reports and appropriate analysis
- Monitoring revenues and expenditures for compliance and accuracy in reporting and budgeting in accordance with HUD and State of Oregon requirements
- Talent development & team leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the minimum experience, education, licensure and/or certifications for someone to be successful in the position. EXPERIENCE
At least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting & finance in a governmental or non-profit agency; Public Housing Authority experience preferred.
EDUCATION
The successful candidate will likely have a four-year college or university degree with major course work in accounting, finance or a related field.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
A certification as a public accountant (CPA) is highly desirable.
This position is required to occasionally drive Agency vehicles in the course of work. Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid State of Oregon vehicle driver's license and be insurable at standard rates is required for this role.

SALARY RANGE
$107,874.21 - $144,566.41 annually
Homes for Good determines starting pay within the range based on relevant education and experience.

Incumbent must reside within the State of Oregon and be able to report onsite as needed in Eugene, Oregon to meet business needs.
