SCAOHN President's Message
Dear Members,
As we welcome the spring season, I am honored to step into the role of President of SCAOHN and to serve such an inspiring community of Occupational Health Nurses. First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our immediate past president, Ashley Atchley, for her exceptional leadership and commitment to SCAOHN. Under her guidance, our organization experienced substantial membership growth and strengthened its foundation in countless ways. Her vision, dedication, and tireless efforts have positioned us for continued success, and I am sincerely thankful for all of her contributions. As I begin my term, my goal is to build upon an already strong foundation. One of my main focuses will be raising employer awareness of the tremendous value Occupational Health Nurses bring to their organizations. Through education, advocacy, and strategic outreach, we will continue to highlight the critical role OHNs play in workforce health, safety, productivity, and overall organizational success. By promoting awareness, we strengthen not only our profession, but also the recognition and support our members deserve. I also want to give a warm welcome to our new members. You truly are SCAOHN’s future! We are thrilled to have you join, and we look forward to your engagement, ideas, and energy. It is especially exciting to see so many new members registered for our upcoming Spring Conference on April 17th. I look forward to meeting you all at conference as we learn, network, and grow together. If you haven’t already registered to attend, please consider joining us. It’s going to be a wonderful event! To our Board of Directors and committee members, thank you for your ongoing dedication to SCAOHN. Your hard work behind the scenes ensures that our programs, educational offerings, and member services continue to thrive. I am grateful for your partnership and leadership. The future of SCAOHN is so bright. With growing membership, engaged leadership, and a shared commitment to advancing occupational health nursing, I am optimistic about what we will accomplish together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I am excited for the year ahead and proud to serve as your President.
Beverly Moody, SCAOHN President

Organization News
New Board Member Profile: Hope Bailey - Treasurer
SCAOHN would like to welcome our newest board member, Ms. Hope Bailey!
Hope previously served as an assistant in planning conferences for SCAOHN. She said this past year she decided she wanted to be more engaged and joining the SCAOHN Board created an opportunity to network and learn from others. Her hope for SCAOHN members is that being active in SCAOHN allows members to gain access to the knowledge of other members and the ability to reach out to other members who may be a SME in a particular area. When asked what advice she would give to members who are considering becoming more involved (board or committees), Hope said "Be open to the opportunity to serve. You may have some wonderful ideas that can be implemented to make a great process even better."
Hope began her healthcare career in 1990 as a Certified Surgical Technologist working in surgery full time and labor and delivery PRN. She later returned to college to obtain her ADN and continued working in surgery. Hope went back to school to obtain her BSN at Gardner Webb University. She worked in surgical nursing from 1990 to 2014 in various roles including circulating nurse, charge nurse and director of surgical services. In 2014, Hope decided she did not want to retire as a director of surgical services, and she wanted to see what else she could do in her nursing career. She took a position at Milliken & Company in 2014 as an occupational health nurse at one of Milliken's plants. Hope transferred to Milliken Corporate Headquarters in 2015. Hope states "I absolutely love occupational health nursing as it has afforded me the best work, life balance"
Hope is a mother of two - a son, Trey and a daughter, Kristen. She has 3 beautiful grandchildren - Emmett (14), Ezra (10) and Hadley (9 months). Hope loves to workout, travel and shop. She said that she is addicted to riding her Peloton bike. She rides at least one hour 7 days a week! On weekdays she wakes up at 4:00AM to complete her ride as she says it sets the tone for the day. Hope said she even searches for hotels that have Peloton bikes in their fitness centers when traveling!
The SCAOHN Board of Directors is proud to welcome Hope to our Board, and we look forward to all she does for the organization and our members!

Don’t forget about your mental wellness, too. Even a few minutes to pause, breathe, or step outside can make a big difference.
