Welcome to MIAMI

In this piece I wanted to create a post card to the city that my family is from, Miami. The first "M" resembles a calm day at Miami's North Beach. Then, in the first "I" you can see the UMami mascot Sebastion the Ibis. The "A" shows the Bayside Ferris wheel which is a really nice destination. The second "M" then shows South beach which has really pretty colorful buildings as seen in the image. Lastly the second "I" has the Cuban flag which has a large culture impact on Miami.

Dead & Drunken

In this piece I had a task of portraying a growing issue and theme without using any words to better the world. My theme was how alcoholism can kill. As one could see there is a dead person with a dirtied room with a bottle of alcohol. I created the entire background using images of wood boards and dry wall; then, I distorted all those images to create the look of an actual room. In this piece I worked with a large amount of cutting out images and placing them together to create a collage.

THE DAY AFTER THE SAMURAI CAME

In this piece, I used 3 colors of print with a white background paper. This is a movie poster for a horror movie that takes place in Japan during The Age of Samurai and shows a rival feudal samurai coming into a town and killing the majority of the town. The poster exhibits the day after the tragedy of the Battle of Sekigahara and has the samurai hunting for the leaders of the town at their palace. The poster also portrays what the samurai looks like behind the samurai in a large blood-curdling portrait of its face. I thought this horror movie was a perfect way to capture the brutality of the Battle of Sekigahara with the discomforting face of the samurai to the skulls from all the deaths, on the ground as well with the Japanese lettering saying, "They All Die".

Old Yeller by Fred Gipson Custom Book.

My favorite book that I have ever read is 100% Old Yeller by Fred Gipson. In this book cover I created, you can see a little dog, his name is Old Yeller, and he in the yard of his house. In this piece I had to create a 3d looking cut media cover with only kraft paper texture. On the spine of the book there is a symbol foreshadowing the end to the book. On the back of the book there is the prologue to the story and a photo of Old Yeller's house.
