Head's Welcome
Dear Families and Friends, What a wonderfully frosty week it has been! The cold snap certainly arrived, and there was an added thrill for all of us here at Canbury when we saw the first few flakes of snow fall across the playground. It really added a magical touch to our day. I’ve been so impressed by the sounds coming from the Key Stage 3 drama rehearsals over the past few weeks. It's been a real pleasure listening to the hard work and dedication of the students and staff involved. I am incredibly excited to see the final performance on December 10th and look forward to welcoming many of our families to this special event. It’s been another busy week of sporting fixtures. Our students have done the school proud in both the girls' football match and the cross-country events. In both competitions, the teams did wonderfully well, showing great teamwork and spirit. Well done to all the athletes who represented Canbury this week. As a huge fan of all things Christmas, this half-term is one of my absolute favourites in the Canbury calendar! The atmosphere is already starting to feel wonderfully festive. We have a lot of exciting activities and events lined up for students between now and the end of term. Please be sure to look further down the newsletter for the detailed note with all the dates and information about the forthcoming festive fun. Just a reminder, please ensure your child comes to school with appropriate warm layers, hats, and gloves, as the cold weather looks set to continue. Have a wonderful weekend. Mrs Rich Head

What we've been up to
Football
The girls had a tournament this week where we won 2, drew 2 and lost 2 - what an achievement! Ella was our star defender, Reenie and Hattie scored some blinders, Rosie got stuck in at every opportunity, Olivia made some awesome saves and Daisy was the stand out complete team player - even going in goal when needed! Well done everyone!
Therapy Group
We went out in therapy group this week because it snowed! The students had a great time and said that this made them feel joyful and serene.
District Cross Country
On Thursday morning this week Nico and Olivia went to Tiffin School to compete in the annual Kingston borough cross country competition. In freezing cold conditions both students did the school proud with Olivia finishing comfortably in the top half of a huge field in the Year 8 & 9 Girls' event, and Nico recorded the school's highest ever finish, coming 13th in the Year 10 & 11 Boys' event. In so doing, Nico has qualified to represent Kingston at the 2026 Surrey School County Championships taking place in January next year - a fantastic achievement. A huge well done to both students!
Creative Careers Assembly
Thank you to Mrs Tank who ran a Creative Careers Assembly today - giving us an insight into some different career options and a new perspective on how our subjects teach us a range of skills.
We're walking to Rome
We are getting closer to Rome! We have a new school challenge to keep us moving as the nights draw in - we want to walk the equivalent of Canbury School to Rome by Christmas! Each week all staff, students and parents can submit their miles covered - walking miles only - and we will keep you updated via the Friday Newsletter. The link to submit is at the top of the newsletter and below. To the left shows our route and progress so far - we can't wait to get out and walk this together!
