Autism Awareness Week
Although Autism Awareness Day falls on April 2nd, this year we are celebrating Autism Awareness as a school in February when there are not a number of other different initiatives on at the same time. It was really lovely to meet our parents of children with autism last Tuesday morning in the hall for coffee and chats. We hope this is something that can grow and expand in future!

World Book Day
On Thursday 5th March we will be celebrating World Book Day in school with a fun dress-up day for all classes. This annual celebration aims to promote reading for pleasure and encourage children to discover the joy of books. Pupils are invited to come dressed as a favourite book character or inspired by a story they love. Lots of simple ideas for dress up can be found here! We look forward to a colourful and creative day celebrating our love of reading together.
Architecture
In promoting a culture of school improvement , collaboration, innovation and creativity, our incredible Chairperson, Joana Nunes, has given up her time to share her architectural expertise with our fourth class students. Students have engaged in these fantastic workshops over a period of eight weeks and been given the opportunity to develop crucial cognitive, creative and spatial skills. Not only are the results of the girls' projects magnificent but Joana is such an inspiring leader for our students. Thank you Joana!

Ireland Reads Day 2026
We are excited to celebrate Ireland Reads 2026, a nationwide reading campaign led by Libraries Ireland that encourages everyone to “Get Lost in a Good Book.” The theme this year focuses on the joy of reading for wellbeing and connection, reminding us that reading is one of the best ways to relax, learn and explore new worlds. Local libraries will be hosting a variety of events, including storytimes, author visits, book clubs and family reading activities. They will also be sharing recommended reading lists for children, teens and adults, making it a wonderful opportunity for families to discover new books together and celebrate a love of reading at home. To mark the occasion in school on Friday 27th, classes will take part in a special “Drop Everything and Read” time or enjoy a dedicated story session with their teacher. Our junior classes may also invite parents or grandparents to come in and share a favourite story. If you would be interested in taking part, please let us know through emailing parents@stbrigidsgns.ie.

Autism Awareness
We celebrated Autism Awareness day with a wonderful mix of learning, connection, and celebration across the school. Our students opened the doors of the Student Café, proudly serving food and drink and creating a lovely atmosphere around the school. On Wednesday, classes explored Autism Awareness Stations focused on our sensory systems. These hands‑on activities helped students understand how we all experience the world differently and how we can support one another with kindness and awareness. It was a meaningful few days that highlighted inclusion, understanding, and the strengths of our whole school community.
Austism Assistance Dogs Ireland (AADI)
Huge congratulations to our amazing 6th class students who raised €1865 for Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland.
We were so lucky to welcome AADI into our school with their gorgeous dog Joelle. Our students in 6th classes learned about how these amazing dogs go through a period of intensive training so that they can assist and support people with autism and additonal needs. This visit was so informative and it raised our students' awarenewss of this extremely worthy cause. Thank you to Catherine Brougham (parent) for facilitating this wonderful experience for us!
