On October 15, 2024, the Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators (FAME) in collaboration with the Department of Medical Education, hosted their 14th annual Medical Education Day. This full-day event focused on exploring and enhancing the future of medical education while honoring exceptional teaching and scholarship.
Jean Twenge, PhD, a leading expert on generational differences and a professor of psychology at San Diego State University was the 14th Annual Medical Education Day keynote speaker. Her lecture, Understanding Generational Differences: Improving Teaching and Training in Academic Health Professions provided expert insights to help teach, train, and engage across the generations in the workplace.

"How to anticipate changes we'll need to make to adapt to Gen Z's expectations as they come into residency and start creating supportive conversations now".
Medical Education Day features a variety of workshops, engaging lectures, and insightful discussions.

"I enjoyed being able to learn amongst a group of passionate individuals also excited about teaching and medical education".

"I enjoyed the Works in Progress panel to hear how presenters developed projects and received real-time feedback".

"Connecting with others who are doing Med Ed research; providing feedback to early career faculty".
"I enjoyed learning about the ways to better support students' learning (e.g., creating class content that takes into account neurodiversity)".
During Medical Education Day, attendees enjoyed Table Talks—a unique opportunity to connect with fellow health professions educators over lunch in small, engaging groups. Each table was led by a FAME member expert, guiding rich discussions on essential topics like Assessment, Bedside Teaching, Course Development, Coaching, Education Scholarship, and Education Theory.
Awards Ceremony
The day concluded with an awards ceremony honoring several faculty members with the John X. Thomas, Jr. Best Teachers of Feinberg Award, recently promoted faculty, newly inducted members of FAME, and outstanding faculty, students, residents, and fellows.
