Edgar Zambrano Second year & UA Stem mentorship program

My name is Edgar and I'm from San Luis, Az and am now studying Agricultural Education at the U of A in Tucson!

I love traveling, nature, movies, and spending time with friends and family!

My 3 Goals... Be able to mentor/inspire others, Be able to learn new things, & Be able to grow upon my skills

Week 1-3: The MENTOR Team worked on planning out our first in person event through multiple zoom meetings every week. We went over what it is we would be doing this year then went over presentations and assignments for the first event.

On Week 4 we hosted our kickoff event where we got to meet our middle school team that we will be working with and mentoring throughout the year of their env. projects!

Week 5-9: After our kickoff event we took a week break and then started planning our second event where we would teach the middle school students a software program called GIST. We learned about GIST and were prepared for our next event.

On Week 10, we hosted our second event at the U of A where our middle school teams came back and learned all about the GIST Program that we will be working with to help them with their environmental projects!

This internship has been such an amazing opportunity for me not only because it helps me with my future career but it has also taught me a lot of things and it has made me grow my skillset so much. My internship is still not over so I am excited to see how the rest of it goes but I will say that I would definitely repeat my internship or something similar. For other students completing internships, make the world a better place however you can but also grow to be the best version of yourself through your experiences as well!
