Digital Business Incubation Centre In collaboration with The Hartree Centre

Helping early-stage companies turn their innovative technology concepts into market reality.

The Digital Business Incubation Centre (Digital BIC) is designed to support early-stage technology companies achieve their commercial potential by de-risking the route to market. It enables early-stage technology companies to develop new products and services that adopt AI, Data Analytics and HPC technologies.

The Digital BIC builds upon the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s strong track record of managing support programmes and facilities for small businesses across its locations nationally.

Bringing business ideas to life

The Digital BIC will support businesses developing advanced digital technologies or developing products or services that incorporate advanced digital technologies. The Digital BIC will support businesses developing advanced digital technologies:

  • AI & Machine Learning
  • Data Analytics
  • High Performance Computing

The Digital BIC provides an outstanding support package for start-ups. Successful applicants will be provided with:

Located within the rapidly growing Sci-Tech Daresbury campus in the Liverpool City Region, the Digital BIC will enable technology businesses to access, and benefit from, the wider collaborative ecosystem on campus. Daresbury Laboratory's scientists and engineers have been pushing the boundaries of modern science for more than 50 years, and startups today can benefit from working side-by-side with pioneers and peers alike.

The campus is also the home to 3 well-established industrial clusters for the North West, specifically dedicated to the health tech, space and digital sectors.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Digital BIC you must be :

  • UK Registered companies.
  • New or existing companies less than 5 years old.
  • Majority owned by founders and employees.
  • Within programme scope.
  • Viable business plan.
  • TRL 3-6
