Community Choir Concert

Maybelle’s Old Town Choir will join the combined Portland State University (PSU) choirs (the Rose, Thorn, Briar, and University Choirs) for a big final concert of their season! Join the audience to support and celebrate this culminating performance of joyful, heartfelt growth. (The program may also include several short songs inviting audience participation!) New Sign-up System for Member Support Services
To help you get the most out of your time with Member Support Services, we are trying a new way to collaborate! To make an appointment, fill out a support form in the Community Room. Once it's filled out, you'll pick from 2 weeks of available appointment times. This way, Siggy can be better prepared with the documents and answers you need at your meeting time!
Seasonal Mini Belonging Retreat

Maybelle Center (South B) This year, we launched a new tradition: Seasonal Belonging Retreats! This is our second seasonal retreat and will be filled with belonging-building activities, a collective art project, guided reflection, and snacks. All are welcome! Theatre Outing: Fat Ham

Set at a backyard barbecue, this funny, moving, and powerful story about becoming who we are meant to be is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reimagining of Hamlet you won't want to miss! May Art Class: Paint Pour

Starlight Apts (355 NW 6th Ave) In a special collaboration, Kent McCord, who hosts art programming at our partner building, will be showing us how to make paint pours on canvas! Special Opportunity for Fairly Odd Theatre Troupe Members!
Free tickets to Hamlet (showing May 1st - 24th on Fri, Sat, Sun)
Our new theatre instructor, Caitlin Rose, is starring in a local production of Hamlet from Rose City Stage Company! She is providing free tickets to all active Members of our theatre class (the Fairly Odd Theatre Troupe) to come see this creative production that uses the backdrop in Old Town as part of the story itself. You won't want to miss this unique staging of Hamlet, so come join us for theatre class and you'll get a ticket for this exciting show!

Changes to ongoing opportunities:
- Maybelle Center will be closed all day Monday, May 25th, 2026 (Memorial Day)
- There will be no Theatre class the first two Thursdays in May (May 7th and May 14th)
Ongoing opportunities details:
- Community Room: Monday, 1–3 PM; Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
- Choir: Mondays 3-4:30 PM in the Classroom. Come sing with us, regardless of your past choir experience (or complete lack there of)!
- CareOregon Advantage Q&A: 2nd Tuesday of the Month, 10:30 AM - Noon in the Community Room. Reps from Care Oregon will answer your questions on aging, disability, and Medicare. (May date: 5/12)
- Karaoke: In 2026, we will have seasonal karaoke parties, instead of 2x/month in the Community Room. Next karaoke party date forthcoming.
- Heart Circles: Every Thursday, 11:15 AM in the Classroom. A safer space for folks to speak from their hearts, to be heard, and to listen. This will be a combined group in place of Men’s, Women’s, and Rainbow Group, facilitated by a staff member.
- Movie and Popcorn: Every Thursday 12:30 - 2:30 PM in the Community Room. Grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy a classic film or new blockbuster together. Going forward, we won't have Movie and Popcorn on the day we have Birthday Party.
- Birthday Party: Usually the fourth Thursday of the Month, 1:30 - 2:30 PM. A monthly celebration of member birthdays with cake (gluten-free and sugar-free available) and live music. (May date: 5/28)
- Bingo: Every Friday, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM in the Community Room. Join us for some friendly competition and get ready to shout "Bingo!"
- Knitting & Crochet: First, third, and fifth Fridays of the month from 12:30 - 2:30 PM in the Community Room. Tools, materials, and instruction will be available to make with us!
- Game Time Social: Second and fourth Fridays of the month from 12:30 - 2:30 PM, stop by the Community Room for a board or card game with fellow Members, volunteers, or staff.
- Monthly Art Class: The last Tuesday of the month, join us for a new art class hosted in the Starlight Apartments space. (May date: 5/26 for Paint Pouring.)
- Monthly Arts & Culture Outing: Join us for a group outing to take in some of Portland's extensive arts and culture. (May outing to see Hamlet will be on Thursday, May 14th; RSVP in advance required!)
- Member Forum: Quarterly, 12:45 AM - 2:30 PM in the Community Room. Join us each quarter to brainstorm new ideas, discuss any concerns, and eat lunch together. (Next meeting date TBD)
- Theatre Class: Theatre is on Thursdays from 2:45 - 4:15 PM in the Community Room. No experience needed, join us! (There will not be Theatre the first two Thursdays in May, 5/7 and 5/14)
