Ron Proulx a brief history

Ron owned and operated Canada's leading music supervision company Arpix Media from 1998-2023, handling all music creative and business affairs on countless productions for a who's who of Canadian companies and filmmakers. His entire music supervision career spanned from 1994-2023, for 29 years in total. As of 2024, Arpix continues to represent several film composers.

Ron is the author of two ebooks, including HowNot2Suck - a handbook for young entrepreneurs - as well as a guide to music licensing "How To License Your Music Into Movies and Television.”

Ron is co-owner of intellectual property research and clearance company, The Rights Company.

Ron spent the 80's as a performer and songwriter, and continues to play several musical instruments, including piano, drums, sax, and trumpet.

Ron is a graduate from then called Ryerson Polytechnic Institute with a BAA in Radio and Television Arts.

Ron was born in Rouyn/Noranda, Quebec, the youngest of three brothers, to his piano playing and businessman father Eddie Proulx, and his painter and art dealer mother, Anne Proulx. He grew up in Mississauga, Ont., and has lived most of his adult life in downtown Toronto, as well as 7 years in Venice Beach, California, and now Victoria, BC.

newspaper boy, cub, goalie, pizza delivery driver, door to door salesperson, gas station jockey, refinery worker, car jockey, shift worker, visual art salesperson, vending machine salesperson, walkie talkie salesperson, dance party DJ, radio station DJ & campus radio music director, record store employee & cashier, ticket taker, journalist, busker, publicist, podcaster, music teacher, musician, drummer, synthesist, singer, songwriter, performer, recording artist, jingle writer, music video producer, visual artist, public speaker, film composer, genie award winner, artist manager, music supervisor, author, flanêur, party host, helper, and small business owner.
