Boys Cross Country

2nd Place WSC - IHSA Regional Champions - 2nd Place Sectional - 7th Place in State

The Boys Cross Country Team had multiple top finishes during the course of the 2024 fall season. One highlight included qualifying for and finishing in 2nd place in the West Suburban Conference Meet.

After finishing in second place in the WSC, the Lions went on to host and win their own IHSA Regional Meet. They were led by Ben Wuggazer (2nd), John O'Halloran (8th) and Tyler Gantt (10th) to secure the Regional Plaque.

Then they went on to a second place finish in the IHSA Sectional. In the Sectional Meet, the Lions were led by Ben Wuggazer (3rd) and John O'Halloran (7th) each with top 10 finishes. This finish qualified the entire team for the state meet the following weekend at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

At the state meet, LT took 7th place as a team. They were led by an all-state performance by Ben Wuggazer. Ben finished in 22nd place as an individual. His finish in the state meet earned him an all-state medal.

Girls cross country

6th Place in the West Suburban Conference - 3rd Place IHSA Regional Meet - 10th Place IHSA Sectional Meet

The Girls Cross Country Team was a young group of athletes, but they continued to improve all season long. They had multiple top finishes during the course of the 2024 fall season. They started their season with a strong finish in the LT Kuharic Invitational.

In the IHSA Regional Meet, LT finished in 3rd place as a team. Three runners Ameila Ludden (11th), Evelyn Thomas (17th) and Addison Powers (18th) all finished in the top 20 at the regional meet to lead the Lions.

At the IHSA Sectional meet, Mya Coglianese led the team finishing in 32nd place which qualified her for the state meet as an individual.

Mya finished with a personal best run of 18:14 at the state meet. She finished in the top 100 of the state in the 3A state cross country meet.

Football

Finished with a Record of 11-1 - 6-0 in the West Suburban Conference - 1st Place Western Suburban Conference - Playoff Qualifier - Advanced to the Elite Eight

Finished in the Top 8 in 8A Playoffs

The Lions finished the season with a 11-1 record. They finished 6-0 in the WSC which earned them the first outright WSC Championship since 1987. The 11 wins in a season was the most in program history.

The Lions ran the table and won all of their regular season games. They finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record, which earned them the second seed in the 8A playoffs. This was the first time the Lions went 9-0 since the 1943 season.

LT started their playoff run with a matchup with Joliet West High School. The Lions won the first round matchup 38-0 to move on to the second round. In the second round of the playoffs, they played WSC Gold Champions, Downers Grove South. They beat DGS by the score of 63-20 to advance to the State Quarterfinals.

In the Quarterfinal game, the Lions hosted Naperville Central. LT fell to Naperville Central 24-7 to be eliminated from the playoffs. LT had three all-state players in 2024. They were Mack Long (1st team IHSFCA), Travis Stamm (1st Team IHSFCA) and Tyler Chambers (Honorable Mention IHSFCA).

Girls Flag Football

15-3 overall record - Undefeated Against WSC Teams - IHSA Regional Champions

In the Girls Flag Football inaugural season, the Lions had incredible success. They won over 83% of their games in the first year of the program.

The Lions were able to get off to a fast start and they looked like they had been playing flag football for years.

After an amazing regular season, the LT Flag Football Team hosted the IHSA Regional. They won their first game against Chicago Perspectives 46-6. In the Regional Championship game, they beat the third seeded Chicago Solorio Academy team 28-14.

With the IHSA Regional Championship victory, they next faced Whiney Young. The Lions fell to Whitney Young 29-14 to finish their season. The Lions had one All-State player in the 2024 season who was Anna Bigenwald (IFFCA).

Girls Golf

7-3 overall record - 6-3 in the West Suburban Conference - Finished 5th Place in the West Suburban Conference - 4th Place IHSA Regional Meet

The girls golf team had many successes during the 2024 season. During the regular season they went 7-3 in dual meets. Including a 6-3 record in the West Suburban Conference.

After the conference meet, the Lions finished in 5th place in the WSC. Next up was a very difficult IHSA Regional field of teams.

The girls took fourth place at the IHSA Regional Tournament. While they did not qualify for the Sectional Meet as a team, they did have four individuals who qualified for the Sectional. They were Amelia Van Vuren, Mekayla Genovesi, Isabella Caulfield and Isabella Evans.

At Sectionals, two of the girls were able to qualify for the state meet. Isabella Evans and Amelia Van Vuren played in the state meet and Amelia qualified for day 2 of the tournament. She finished in 55th place in the state.

Boys Golf

9-0 dual meet record - 6-0 in the West Suburban Conference - West Suburban Conference Champions - IHSA Regional Champions - 4th Place IHSA Sectional

The boys golf team went 6-0 in the conference dual season and finished in 1st place in the West Suburban Conference. They went 9-0 overall in dual meets.

The Lions won the IHSA Regional to advance to the IHSA Sectional Tournament. The Lions dominated the Regional and had three medalists (Anderson Palm 2nd, Charlie Forrest 3rd and Garrett Pohl 5th) and 4 players in the top 10 (Finley Tyrrell 8th).

LT finished the most difficult IHSA Sectional in fourth place finishing only 4 shots behind the last state qualifying team. Anderson Palm led the Lions by shooting a 73, which was good enough to qualify him for state as an individual.

At the IHSA State Meet, Anderson shot a two day score of five strokes over par to finish his season taking 15th place in the state as an individual.

Boys Soccer

Finished with a record of 13-8-2 - 4-2 in the WSC - 2nd West Suburban Conference - Won the IHSA Regional

The boys soccer program went 13-8-2 overall in another exciting season. They competed in multiple high level tournaments including the Body Armor Series and the New Trier Invitational.

One highlight in the LT soccer season was when the Lions took first place in the Northside College Showcase. They beat Grayslake Central in penalty kicks 6-5 to win the championship.

LT hosted the IHSA Regional again this fall and started by beating Proviso West 2-0 to advance to the Regional Final. In the Regional Final, LT hosted another West Suburban Conference opponent, Downers Grove North. The Lions beat DGN 1-0 to take home the Regional Plaque.

After winning the Regional, LT had to face Morton in the Sectional Final. The Lions fell to the Mustangs 2-0 to finish their season.

Girls Swimming and Diving

5-0 Overall Record - 5-0 WSC Record - 1st Place in West Suburban Conference

IHSA Sectional Champions - 5th Place in State

The LT Girls Swimming and Diving Team had a great season ending with a fifth place finish in the state meet. They finished with a 5-0 dual meet record and finished in the top of many competitive invitationals.

The girls swimming and diving team won the IHSA Sectional Tournament. They had individuals qualify for 8 events and all three relays qualified for the state meet. Coach Walker was named the Sectional Coach of the year for the Hinsdale Central Sectional.

The LT girls swimming and diving program had eight individuals who won state medals and were awarded All-State honors. They are Audrey Caviliere, Maeve Collins, Lindsey Forbaugh, Lauren Jablonski, Dylan Jorgensen, Ella Jean Kelly, Anna Pansing and Kylie Thompson.

LT finished the season with a strong showing at the IHSA State Meet. They earned top 16 finishes in all three relays and multiple individual events to earn their 5th place team state finish.

Girls Tennis

13-5 in Head to Head Dual Meets - 4-2 Record in the West Suburban Conference - 3rd Place in the WSC - 4th Place in the IHSA Sectional Tournament

The girls tennis program competed against some of the best teams in the state again this year. They compiled a 13-5 record in head to head matches.

The girls tennis team continued to improve during the 2024 fall season. They went 4-2 in conference to move up to 3rd place in the West Suburban Conference. They also moved up in the IHSA Sectional standings finishing just 1 point away from 3rd place.

The LT girls tennis team competed in the IHSA Sectional. Both singles and doubles teams made it to the state qualifying round, but lost to ranked opponents. They were able to finish in fourth place as a team in the Sectional Tournament.

Girls Volleyball

19-17 overall record - 3-3 in WSC - 3rd Place in West Suburban Conference

The Lions had another great season. They competed against the best teams in the state and held their ground all season long.

The team did well in their own quad meets including sweeping Normal, Bolingbrook and Nazareth in their first quad meet.

They finished in third place in the very competitive West Suburban Conference by going 3-3 in those games.

In the IHSA Regional Tournament, LT beat Nazareth Academy in straight sets to move to the Regional Championship game. They were matched up with a quality WSC team, Oak Park/River Forest. After dropping the first game, LT stormed back to win the second game to tie the match at one game a piece. Unfortunately, Oak Park pulled away in game 3 to take the Regional Title.

The LT Fall Season was incredibly successful. Three teams won West Suburban Conference Championships this fall (Boys Golf, Football, Girls Swimming and Diving). There were 3 teams who finished their IHSA season in the top 10 (Girls Swimming and Diving (5th), Boys Cross Country (7th), Football (Top 8). Three teams won Regional Championships (Flag Football, Boys Golf and Boys Soccer). One team won a Sectional Plaque (Girls Swimming and Diving).

There were also 14 student athletes who attended the National Letter of Intent signing days on November 8th (Katherine Badrov, Audrey Cavaliere, Ashley Culin, Nora Ezike, Mia Graziano, Lauren Jablonski, Ella Jean Kelly, Tucker King, Graine Kristufek, Maya Mladjan, Caroline Mortonson, Colin Schertz) and December 4th (Tyler Chambers and Travis Stamm).

Thirteen student-athletes earned all-state honors in four different sports:

  • Boys Cross Country 1 (Ben Wuggazer)
  • Flag Football 1 (Anna Bigenwald)
  • Football 3 (Mack Long, Travis Stamm and Tyler Chambers)
  • Girls Swimming 8 (Audrey Caviliere, Maeve Collins, Lindsey Forbaugh, Lauren Jablonski, Dylan Jorgensen, Ella Jean Kelly, Anna Pansing, Kylie Thompson)

There were also 95 seniors who earned West Suburban Conference All-Academic status this fall.
