Welcome Dustdevils!

Monday, Nov. 10, 2025

Good Afternoon Dustdevils,

Fall has arrived with a hint of cooler temperatures today and an elevated appreciation for hot chocolate and coffee.

  • Last week, we welcomed friends from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation who provided a generous gift of over $56,000 to help TAMIU Engineering students forge the future of South Texas through access to specialized, high-performance laptop and robotic training kits. We thank CenterPoint’s vice president for Community Relations, June Deadrick, and our trusted partner and gift steward, the TAMIU Alumni Association, represented by David Vasquez, president-elect.
  • We also held a successful launch for our Masters of Science in System Engineering, scheduled to begin this Fall 2026. By introducing advanced engineering studies to our campus, we are not only expanding academic horizons...we are fueling the future of South Texas with innovation, opportunity, and leadership.
  • It’s Nurse Practitioner Week at TAMIU and we proudly address the need for Nurse Practitioners with degree programs that prepare Registered Nurses for advanced practice as Family Nurse Practitioners and post-master’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. TAMIU nurses play a critical role in healthcare delivery here and beyond.
  • Adding to celebrations this week: Veteran’s Week and International Education Week. Details follow.
  • Kudos to Adalberto González, a junior political science major and current 2025 – 2026 president of the TAMIU Student Government Association, who was chosen to participate in the 2025 World Affairs Councils of America Student Scholars Program and National Conference, happening in Washington, D.C.
  • Please join and participate in the broad spectrum of activities and opportunities here for you.
