Wisdom Of The White Buffalo A Summer Solstice Journey of Transformation and Renewal

Embracing Earthly Change and the Wisdom of the White Buffalo

Welcome,

Dear sisters, to this sacred virtual gathering for Summer Solstice.

This day June 20th, the longest of the year, marks a powerful time of illumination and transformation. As we come together, we also honor the profound changes happening in our world and connect with the ancient wisdom of the white buffalo, a revered symbol in Lakota culture.

The Summer Solstice is a time of peak solar energy, a moment to celebrate light and life, and to set intentions for the coming months. It is a reminder that we are all part of the natural cycles of growth and renewal. Just as the Earth reaches a peak in its cycle, so too do we have the opportunity to reach new heights in our personal and spiritual journeys.

A lil' Reflection:

Reflecting on my own journey, I remember an experience that profoundly shaped my understanding of change and spiritual connection. Back a few years, I sat in a sweat lodge, a sacred space designed to represent the womb of mother earth, where the heat from the grandfather stones in the center rises up, enveloping everyone in a purifying embrace.

When the flap came down, it was pitch black inside. The scorching heat from the stones intensified, and Uncle threw smudging resins and herbs onto the stones, their scent mingling with the heat. He commanded, "Bless, Yo Self!" In that moment, my love started a Sioux Ceremony song (click here to become engaged with the song), and as all the men and women joined in, I felt a strong wind, come from the swish of an eagle’s wing, pass through me.

In the darkness, a vision appeared:

A white buffalo calf walked up to me. I could feel it's cool, damp breath on my face. This vision of the white buffalo, sacred to the Lakota people, symbolized purity, spiritual renewal, and hope. According to Lakota prophecy, the birth of a white buffalo calf is both a blessing and a warning, signifying a time of great change and the need for humanity to come together in harmony and respect for the Earth .

This vision, experienced in the intense heat and darkness of the sweat lodge, spoke to me of the strong winds of change on the horizon. The white buffalo, a symbol of transformation, reminded me of the importance of embracing change with an open heart and a clear mind.

Honor You,

Today, as we honor the Summer Solstice, let us also honor the teachings of the white buffalo. This powerful symbol reminds us that change, though challenging, brings opportunities for growth and renewal. Just as the solstice marks a turning point in the Earth's cycle, so too can we embrace the changes in our lives and in the world around us.

Let us use this time of peak solar energy to set intentions for the future, to embrace the transformations that come our way, and to trust that these changes will lead to a better, more harmonious world. As we move forward, let us carry the wisdom of the white buffalo with us, reminding us to live with courage, compassion, and a deep respect for all life.

Before we part ways, dear sisters, I invite you to continue your journey of connection and reflection with three special offerings.
