Cylchlythyr Ysgol Saltney Ferry "Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

Welcome everyone to this weeks newsletter.

Great to hear Welsh being used across our day and in different classes, also seeing pupils develop their knowledge of Owain Glyndwr this week!

There are always projects being developed at school, inside and out. We've much planned for this term around outdoors, financial education and craft projects. We're looking forward to boosting biodiversity on our site and school council are planning to create products to sell.

This week there have been a few visitors to school looking at how we are embedding authentic learning experiences for your children. Diolch to the Wrexham University and Clwyd Alyn staff for their time, our pupils were proud to show them all that they have developed.

We've had a warm spell in weather this week, just a reminder that with rain forecast could I please ask that you send your child with a rain coat or jacket.

We all hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Mr Martin

A super week in Dosbarth Alwen, we had our first PE session and our first (super rainy) Udeskole day in our outdoor learning area which the children all loved. In maths we have been looking at ordering and recognising numbers, we have been practising our name writing skills and reading in groups and individually with a teacher 📚

This week in Dosbarth Padarn, we have been exploring our new class book - The Tiger Who Came to Tea. We have also been focusing on number and place value this week, which has included counting ‘spoonfuls’ to make bread, playing card games with our friends and learning how to set the table for a tea party. It was the first Udeskole this week and the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring and playing in the outdoor forest area and cooking the bread they made on the fire. Another fantastic week in Dosbarth Padarn!

What a lovely week we have had in Dosbarth Tegid. We started the week learning about how to write instructions and the class told Miss Parry how to make a jam sandwich. We then wrote it in our books remembering it all in the right order! In Maths we have been focusing on number sentences and used the Numicon to help us add the numbers together. We also enjoyed our outdoor learning making faces using natural materials we found outside. Super work everyone!

This week in Brenig we've developed our digital skills with Adobe online sessions and our coding skills through HWB platforms. We started our big questions this week by considering what birds we see in our community...and also what problems they may be facing. We've created knowledge boards on Google Classroom and will add to them as we learn more.

In numeracy we've continued our place value skills, looking at how we can group objects and record them.

Our budding conservationists have already identified solutions at a local scale! Next week we will look in more depth at habitats.

What a week we have had in Dosbarth Gwynant!

We have had a fantastic week continuing our focus on climate change, discussing and calculating our own carbon footprints and exploring how these can be reduced.

We held a debate in class this week, taking on the personas of different character and world leaders to consider all perspectives of climate change! There were so many carefully considered points made.

We had fun in PE playing capture the flag football version, and enjoyed some autumnal crafts in Udeskole!

We've had many visitors to school this week where our Ferry Farmers have shared their responsibilities, passion for farming and impact on their well-being as a result of having a school farm.

Our visitors said the work our school are doing is inspirational and are eagerly looking at working with us on projects in the very near future!

We've harvested much of the food from the beds and sold or used produce. Great to see our pupils learning how our food is grown!
