To facilitate a strong team Bourgault plans to encourage “caring connections between all our teammates and constructive criticism in order to work better as a cohesive team.”
CHRISTA KELLY
Meet Christa Kelly. This senior captain has played soccer for a total of 13 years and was welcomed onto the varsity team during her freshman year. She was drawn to the sport because of the aspect of playing with a team and the “technicality” of having to manage the ball with her teammates. Kelly has been chosen to be the captain by her fellow teammates which meant a lot to her. “I felt honored that my teammates trust me to lead and to play to the best of my ability. I also felt proud and accomplished because I drive myself to work hard each practice and to see it paid off was an amazing feeling.” Kelly plans to lead her defenders as well as the rest of her team to play the most efficient way they can. She looks forward to playing in CIF, bonding with her team and playing against some difficult opponents this year. She plans to guide the team to win games by having each other's backs and “playing with their hearts” so that they learn to get better as the season goes on. Kelly loves and appreciates the positivity that comes from her teammates and is still thinking about pursuing soccer throughout her post high school and college years.

His expectation is that this season will be one of many wins, and to accomplish that he will promote, “positivity, teamwork, communication, and high spirits” throughout his team. Since this is final year playing high school soccer, Hernandez is looking forward to, “building more friendships with the team” before graduation. He thanks Omar McPherson, for being the best coach across these last few years. “He's been a huge mentor for me throughout my high school career, I have nothing but good things to say about him.”

Captain and junior Kate Harrington, has been playing basketball since the age of five. She initially joined the sport because she enjoyed playing when she was younger, and her skills have brought her to be on the varsity team since freshman year. Harrington was chosen to be captain by her coaches, but says that although it felt good, it was, “kind of stressful since it came with a lot of responsibility.” This year’s basketball team is fairly young, according to Harrington, so she expects the season to be focused on building their skills. Harrington looks forward to the Arvin Tournament and plans to do her best in every game, and assist her teammates so that she can help build a stronger team. Harrington plans to continue playing basketball for the rest of high school, but is still unsure if it will have a place in her college life.
