World Book Day 2025

Dear parents and carers

The Parkside Primary School Council are delighted to announce our plans for World Book Day on Thursday, 6th March.

Pupils are invited to come into school in non-uniform to celebrate this year’s school theme of ‘Factual Vs. Fairy Tale’. So, this means pupils can EITHER dress up or come into school in certain colours.

Does your child want to become a character/symbol from their favourite factual book or would they prefer bringing a much-loved fairy tale character to life?

However, if pupils prefer, they can come into school in dark colours (to represent Factual) or bright colours (to represent the Fairy Tale category).

There will be awards for the best dressed pupil in each phase: Early Years, Year 1/2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. Also, the best dressed staff member will be able to win extra break for their class!

This year’s World Book Day also sees the return of the ‘Book In A Box’ competition. This is where pupils can use their creativity to craft a representation of their favourite book, whatever the genre – within a shoebox. Please see below for inspiration.

During the day itself, there will be lots of activities for everyone to enjoy, including a World Book Day quiz.

We look forward to all children getting into the spirit of World Book Day!

The School Council Committee
