Visual Search
If you already have an example image–whether from Adobe Stock or another source— you can use that image to perform a Visual Search to find similar photos. Adobe Sensei is able to identify the content and composition of your image — and automatically adds meta tags — to instantly deliver search results based on the visual information.
No need to translate a visual concept into a text-based one. Simply drag and drop an image into the search bar. Visual search will tag it, search it, and deliver similar stock images. Then, get even better results by adding descriptive keywords and aesthetic filters to refine the search further.
The results of the Visual Search match your target image in color, tone, and composition.
You can use still images to search for video footage as well. Just select Videos from the search bar and the search results will refresh with video content.
Filter Panel
Use the Filter Panel during your search to quickly find creative assets and fine-tune results. By default, the Filter panel on the left side of the Stock website is hidden. After your first search, click on the View Panel button to expand the panel. A lot of your options for finding the right image quickly are in this panel.
- Standard Content vs Premium & Video - Use this dropdown filter to see only assets that are included in subscription plans or available for download with 1 credit each by applying the standard content option under price. All other assets, including premium and video can be found using the filter.
- Undiscovered - Sort your search results by “Undiscovered” to find thousands of great images that have yet to be used. Be unique. Be the first.
- Local Artists - This filter shows content created by artists in your country. It can be helpful in finding culturally specific assets, or a way to promote the work of local artists.
- Generative AI - Allows you to filter your search to include or exclude generative content.
- Race & Ethnicity - Select one or multiple options to refine your search by race and ethnicity.
Aesthetic Filters
This is search science. Adobe Stock greatly enhances your ability to refine your results based on aesthetic criteria to discover— or create — a style you can make all your own. Apply filters to leverage Adobe Sensei’s deep understanding of aesthetic components: depth of field and color.
Depth of Field - helps you find images that are perfectly in focus or images shot with a blurred background.
Color Palette - lets you specify a color for your image and video searches, and gives results close to that value. Quickly find assets that match your brand palette or that contain a specific hue, without having to later color-correct.
Vivid Color - narrows your search to images that are bright or have enhanced color tones, or that are more muted or monochromatic. It’s also a great way to quickly find black-and-white images.
Fit Your Layout
Fine-tune your search results using additional filters based on the content and orientation of an image to find just the right shot.
Background - View images that are transparent or isolated.
Copy Space - further alter your search by specifying whether the assets you need require room for other design elements, such as text, logos or other images.
Orientation - helps you discover images that readily fit your design layout. You don't have to edit them to fit.
Preview Crop - allows you to visualize what an image would look like using custom or pre-set aspect ratios. It also allows you to zoom in on the image within the Preview Crop to adjust its scale.
Find Similar
The Find Similar feature locates assets that match the content, color, and composition of an image, or the content and color of a video.
Enter a keyword in the search bar and select an asset. Then hover over the asset and choose Find Similar.
You can further refine your search by choosing one of the sub-filters:
- Content - search images by style or subject matter. From your results, find similar shots containing the main content in seconds — including more from a series or with a particular model.
- Color - Finds images and videos that have the same light effect or color set as the selected asset.
- Composition - Finds images with the same content arrangement as in the selected image. This is a fast way to find images that feature an isolated object in the center, or a right or left-justified image.
Conceptual Keywords
Adobe Stock is continually analyzing assets to understand how they relate to trends, topics, and themes. If you’re looking for emotionally-resonant images, use keywords that evoke the feeling of that trend.
Search Terms: Floating, Relaxation, Peaceful
Real life: Use the keyword ‘candid’ in combination with other keywords to find images of authentic real-life people. Search Terms: Candid AND family
- Additional helpful keywords to use to surface authentic, inclusive visuals: authentic, authenticity, carefree, candid, real, abilities, disability, disabled, prosthetic, body positive, plus size, non-binary, LGBTQ+, transgender, gender, senior, middle age, ageing.
