I teach, research and work as a sociologist at San José State University. Broadly, my work investigates inequity and social justice in society. I hold "Anti-racist/Racial literacy" and "Coping with Climate Destabilization Dialogues." Within the field of Sociology of Education I have explored classism in the student experience, including the student-teacher relationship and how teacher pay may impact student health at the aggregate, state-level. This annual school year, I am most excited to be a Public Voices Fellow with the OpEd Project.

More about me
What is one thing I know to be true? I know that I am made of the Earth. And, all the material possessions we have, computers, cell phones, textbooks? They are are all also made from the earth.
What is one thing I know that I want? I want people to understand how important using Sociology to inform policy is. I want people to become more educated about sociological concepts, data and research. I want our society to do better: I want our society to become sustainable, just, inclusive, life-affirming and equitable.
What is one thing I know that I am good at? I am good at learning how to be myself. I used to be good at handstands. This is from 2018 and I still practice them and l love to work on them with others.
