The Clover Connection For Douglas County 4-H Families and Volunteers

The following slides are all the current camp experiences available through Douglas County 4-H. Please check under each for registration information. The day camps are for a range of ages, so hopefully one that fits!
Three morning sessions of expert crochet instruction and you will make a fiber arts project that can be entered in the Douglas County Fair! Suitable for absolute beginners or experienced crochet artists. Rebecca will also offer help on other projects during the sessions. The spots for this camp are very limited to allow for hands-on individual attention, if needed. Please email nnoyes@ksu.edu and indicate your interest.  This day camp is a collaborative effort of Douglas County 4-H and The Yarn Barn of Lawrence.

This Night at the Nursery is an excellent educational opportunity and practice for the County Horticulture Judging Contest on July 13th. Project members will also gain insight into project ideas for future Club Day and county fair exhibits, demonstrations, and more! Please RSVP as soon as possible, but definitely by 6/10. County Fair Camping Lottery: https://bit.ly/ElectricCamperSpots. One entry per immediate family of enrolled 4-H member(s). The names drawn from the lottery who receive a spot will be notified by Tuesday, July 1st. Payment will be made to the Fairgrounds Office, information will be forthcoming.
New for 2025!! We need all new ID forms. The on-line forms are fillable and uploading the photos electronically will keep a neater ID form for your records. Horse Identification Certificate can be found here. | The Horse Safety Quiz can be found here for anyone new to the project.
If you plan on showing a dog at the fair, you must have this training! Register by June 4 at: https://bit.ly/DOGSAFETYMEETiNG This is a required training in order to show at the Douglas County Fair.

Please submit to the DgCo Fair Office in Building 21 no later than 1 PM on Friday, 8/1/25 to sell in the livestock auction!
This testing will be conducted by a certified technician at the Open Pavilion. If you have questions about whether your birds need testing, please call or email Nickie Harding at nharding@ksu.edu. The cost is $1/bird at the time of testing. "PT tested" refers to being tested for Pullorum-Typhoid (P-T) disease. This disease, caused by a Salmonella species, can affect chickens, turkeys, and other poultry. The test verifies that the birds are free from infection with either Pullorum disease or Fowl Typhoid. Registration is required and can be found at https://bit.ly/4mkPOAo

You may assemble your team ahead of the contest but there is no registration ahead of contest time. Just come to the contest at 2:30 in Dreher Family 4-H Building on Wednesday, July 30th.
This is a STAND-ALONE CONTEST DAY that replaces all the 4-H contests during the Douglas County Fair, the ONLY exception is Livestock Judging because animals are on site. You may participate in one or all contests on July 13th! The hope is that it will be better for 4-H contestants without the hustle and stress of fair prep and shows. Books are available at one/level/family, please! Also, please consider passing them along if you do not wish to keep your copy. Superintendent Paula has checked with local libraries and there are copies to loan, as well. We will keep a list if you call to reserve, or just stop in and request your copy from Bailey after May 9th!
