Hollow Harmony by Cerys Hudd

Music in the background moves like the sea,

Toe-tipped tide sends wavelengths to a silent heart.

Reaching out, refusing to step in.

Scorching sand slowly forms shards of glass.

Veins staccato, stumbling into the deep end.

Life jacket on, shedding cuts off.

Waves riff once again, beating my caged chest harder,

Fragments of what should be root themselves through the soles of my feet.

I savoured my warmth, in the cold dead sea.
